Let's keep it real - our Live Lines versus Don Best.....

Guys let me provide some feedback on all this so no one is confused by a few malcontents trying to stir up trouble. The RX is only making a nice gesture to our readers on this whole live line thing. A nice gesture, not trying to hurt anyone's business. We probably couldn't if we tried but that is the last thing we would ever want to do. From the start of this Dana and Rick over at Don Best were fully informed of what we were doing and were fine with it. I know for a fact from talking to Ken he respects these guys a great deal and without their consent this wouldn't be here today. Shrink and these guys have a great relationship and I doubt he would do anything to change that. We aren't trying to fool anyone we run a watchdog site, those guys are the pioneers of this live line stuff. Without their support this wouldn't be here today.

Lastly anyone who is a halfway serious player understands we aren't offering anywhere close to the same services as they do. I don't want this to be a Don Best commerical but it's laughable if any serious players are going to stop using them to rely only on what we provide here. Not going to happen. In fact this exposure on this whole live lines thing to casual bettors may send more customers there way would be my guess. It seems as though some are trying to tarnish what we are doing here and/or trying to create a wedge between us and Don Best. Besides Dana and Rick even the books themselves know what is going on as well. I hate to characterize what other people would do but it is safe to say if Dana called Pinnacle or anyone else on their feed and asked for them to be removed from this service the books would do so in a hearbeat. So please let's knock off this silliness from a few posters and enjoy what is a nice frill for some of us casual gamblers and put it to bed. Anyone with any common sense can see through it all but there are always a few who might not recognize a blowhard when there is one doing the talking.

The fact is we are proud of what we have here and pleased with the support we got. An official thanks to all the books who have helped us get this to the forum and the crew of Don Best who have stood behind us. Thank you.

I like what you have put up but from what I've heard about DB, you have to be right about this feature in no way threatening them. But pardon me, this next question will appear to be antagonistic but it isn't - it's simple curiousity - why would the Rx care what DB thought of you offering this feature? Assuming you had not breached any contracts with books that already supply DB their lines, what business is it of theirs what you do? Is it the power that DB has in this industry, does the Rx have some other business relationship with DB (advertising, whatever) or is it the personal friendship? Not debating your right to do as you choose, just curious as to why you would have canned this feature if DB had said to.

JAZZ - There were some posters here that were TRYING to make an ISSUE about the Rx having live lines and hurting DB's business

They were just trying to stir-up trouble and CONFUSION over a NON-ISSUE

Too many people out their are JEALOUS of what the Rx has right now in Services and TRAFFIC

IB, thanks, guess I missed that - just saw the lines for the first time last night, retirement has me busy off-line these days. If that's what prompted this post, that explains it - if not, still not sure why it was stated that the Rx would never have put these lines up in the first place without DB's acceptance.

Jazz - IB is right, mostly I was responding to a couple who were trying to stir up trouble. I wanted to give some more insight on it all. For the most part I guess we could have done this to some degree without talking to anyone but that isn't Shrink's way. Why go out of your way to burn bridges if you don't have to? Also and just as important is the role the books would have in all this. Not only do we get along well with these books so does the DB guys, to get the books in the middle of something like this would not be something we would even consider. I would guess one of the first things the people at the books asked when approached is Dana okay with this? Those guys are just trying to make a buck, they wouldn't want to get involved in a pissing contest and we wouldn't to put them there. So yes to answer your question had they objected this would not be here today in my opinion. We'd have never brought it up again or mentioned it and no one would have ever known the difference. I guess you could call it a respect thing, treat others the way you want to be treated. I can't take any credit for it but I am pleased we handled it the way we did.

Perhaps I can explain...

A few months ago, I approached DANA and RIC from DON BEST to discuss the possibility of the rx offering a live line service to our customers...

Given that DON BEST & THE RX have always enjoyed a friendly relationship, I did not want our line service to compete with theirs, especially since we are a fish out of water when it comes to technology and everything that is involved to be at the pinnacle of the industry, like DON BEST is...

I also put myself in their postion, and had they decided to hire some writers, open a forum, and enter the market with what WE DO BEST, I know for a fact that I would have at least appeciated some notice...

Therefore, there were certian guidelines that we were asked to follow, in order for DON BEST to feel comfortable with what we were doing...

We honored everything we told them and they in turn honored everything they told us...

This is one reason why we are fortunate to have many of the same sports books who appear on their Premium Feed, also appear on ours...

HONOR and YOUR WORD mean everything in this buz and they kept theirs and I kept mine...

DON BEST will be at our party in August and if I don't talk 10 of you into signing up for their PREMIUM FEED, then I will be ashamed!
