RE: LAS VEGAS - FAIRWAY VILLAS OWNED BY KYLE WAUGH

I booked a 2 bedroom condo thru fairway villas several months ago for an arrival date of June 12, 2003, as I wanted my trip to be perfect since we were traveling for the first time with our infant. We were to stay for 3 nights.

When we arrived at the las vegas country club w/ lease in hand, they said our names were not on the list and we could not come in. They told us to call the fairway villas agency, and straigthen it out. The security guard also mentioned that Fairway Villas LEFT their offices on Joe.W Brown the previous week.

Long story short, NO ONE answers their phones. We had gone to the grocery store to purchase food for our stay, because we assumed that we would be able to get thru to someone and check in. After 3 hours in 100 degree heat with our baby and babysitter, we had no other choice but to book expensive last minute rooms at the Mirage. (Which cost us $2100 for two adjoining rooms) Since we had no kitchen, we had to throw away all of the frozen food we just bought since there was no way to store it or heat it up.

Months earlier, the man who had booked my reservation insisted on a CHECK payment, so I am now out $836.64. I can see from my online banking they cashed it long ago. Since I have gone through an agency before to rent a house, I didn't think anything of it.

The thing that really outrages me, is I had called on June 10th (two days before arrival) to VERIFY my reservation and ask for a CRIB for my baby.

A woman answered and said, " Oh, that's not a problem!"

They were probably packing up and leaving their offices, KNOWINGLY screwing a family with a baby! It's one thing to steal our money, but to put us through this nightmare ordeal with an infant is disgusting.

I will be filing a lawsuit against them as well. This whole experience has jaded my vacation experience in Las Vegas. These people are EVIL and they need to pay.

The website that I had found them at was fhlv.com (which is now down)
However, they are still well linked via Google - and the reservations system is still set up.

Payton:

Terrible story. I'm sorry to hear you were cheated by these thief's.

Maybe next time, you shoud use the credit card, so at least you could do a chargeback.

If this ever happens to anyone you can log onto Hotwire.com and purchase hotels the same day and you can still get really good rates. For example when I went to Vegas in June you could get a 4* on the strip for about $140.00, that's not bad for a friday night at the last minute. You just have to find a computer.

Hi Joey,

Yes, in retrospect..that would of been the choice. My options at the time were check or american express.

Since I don't have an american express, I chose check. I have used an agency before and paid by check, so had no reason to doubt this - especially since they were so well linked off the web (like expedia.com and hotels.net)

I have contacted the DA, the BBB, and the Las Vegas Sun.

I'm going after this guy.

Outandup - good advice -- hope this doesn't happen to anyone else!

Looks like someone pulled a Butch and forgot to use the right screen name to respond. Well it looks like it was deleted and corrected anyway so life goes on...

These vacation scams are all over the place. One of them goes by the name "Ramada resorts" or something along that line---and they are NOT at all related to Ramada hotels.

They specialize in Vegas & Florida scams.

Rule 1-ALWAYS use a CC. If they don't want you to use a CC, there's a reason.

Rule 2-Be damn careful who you deal with & be sure to research them before sending a dime.

Go to your bank. You can probably reverse the online pmt you sent them.

Payton, if the company went belly up, your only hope is your bank-and that's a LONG shot if you didn't use a Visa debit card.

I have the name of the condo owner. We did get a hold of him later in our trip, and first thing out of his mouth was " I have to talk to my lawyer."
He knew there was a problem.

So, he is responsible. He should of done the right thing, and let us in the damn condo.

Payton,
Didn't Assemblyman D-David Goldwater's brother have something to do with this LV Country Club venture? A call to his office wouldn't hurt.

castaway - yes! please email coolclick@aol.com

thanks!

TT,

No, I don't know, but since I booked so far in advance, there is a good possibility. I do know the owner acknowledged my lease - so he was definately not in the dark.
