What to do with $30,000? You got the cash. Now, you want to bet, with just average experience & not sharp. Average forum poster/bettor with an addiction to feed. How do i invest $30,000?

How would you make $30,000 work for you?

Atleast, what would you try to make it last?

I'd only have $29,995 left cause I'd need to buy a $5 pair of Underoos after having $30 G's handed to me. That when my usual poor money management techniques fail, I'd still have a $30,000 pair of underwear.

You make the rules. What do you think is a good strategy?

Dante had a short term plan

Sign up with a respectable handicapper (yes there are some winning handicappers out there!) and ride his picks for awhile.

Keep your units small (1% bankroll). Even a terrible losing streak will keep you in the game.

Then, start learning as much about handicapping as you possibly can and try to become "sharp"

5 top books, one local, book a little of your friends action.. scalp as much as possible.. fade the losing players here and ride the winning ones while they are hot.. small % of bankroll on straight plays.. use teasers during football to your advantage by hitting first one and middling 2nd game, stagger the games..

I would never sign up with a handicapper. To many free winners in the forums

John,
Middling is taking both sides (or totals) at different shops with different speads.

ie.
Spurs -4.5 -104 Pinnacle
Nets +5 -107 Canbet

If the Spurs win by 5 you win won side and push the other ... in the neighbor of a 20-1 payout if you hit (approx - it depends on the juice).

Hedging,
If making another risk that will either minimize your loss or guarantee you profit on another bet.

Say you took Jersey (i don't know the real odds) at 6-1 at the start of the Playoffs to win the series ...

.. they once they get to the final you took the Spurs -200 to win the series ...

if you bet 100 on NJ early, and $400 on the Spurs your guaranteed to net $200 for your early success on the Nets

If nets win $100 to win $600, but lose $400 on Spurs ... = +$200 profit

If spurs win $400 to win $200, but lose $100 on Nets ... - +$200 profit.

Hope that helps.
