(Satire) Certain charges against net gaming (ie, recent comparisons to “crack dealing” and “Al-Qaeda”) are to be expected considering some of the sources, but here’s a surprising one – apparently, avert eyes now, it’s also “female-predatory”!
Apparently, according to – the name escapes me, maybe the Taliban? – online wagering attracts “women who might find a casino environment intimidating”, which is naturally “very worrying.” Worse yet, one woman admitting to liking the occasional bet was even quoted in the ‘Telegraph’ recently saying she preferred the online experience because she could fit it around caring for her child! Why couldn’t she have just left the kid in front of the television and gone down to the slot arcade like everybody else, hmmm?

Then again, women aren’t the only endangered misguided creatures who feel they have the same right to leisure pursuits as people who can charter a jet at anytime to hit the tables. Some people are just introverted. Maybe being surrounded by the Frank Sinatra Appreciation Society while being barked at by a junior David Blaine scares them off completely. Or causes them to lose money foolishly through losing their bearings. After all there’s always a time-clock on the computer to subliminally let you know when you’ve had enough, unlike the time-tunnel world of the bricks-and-mortar tables. (Not to mention that online gamblers aren’t stuffed gratis with food and beer throughout their session, but that’s between them and their fridges.)

Anyway, it just proves that whenever women and poor people get interested in something, it immediately qualifies as a “social problem” that needs investigation. Maybe the ‘worried’ parties should investigate Calvin’s treehouse (headquarters of ‘Get Rid of Slimy GurlS’) for sexism and stereotyping?@@@
