Would pick-3 and pick-4 wagers be considered "exotics", or just exacta, trifecta, superfecta wagers.

Thanks,
Bart

Good question. I never considered quinella's/exacta's as exotics. Nor are things like WPS etc... Think exotics refer to triples (trifecta's) on up.....

On a side note I think the take-out is different on exotics versus other wagers. Usually higher than what they take out on the WPS pools. As I said all of this may be wrong. I only go the track when there is a fix in...

Patrick............this is actually a hot topic amonsgt racetracks and lawmakers concerning "exotic" wagers and takeout....yes the takeout % is more on exotic wagers than others...btw super-exotic wagers are single wagers of 7 or more horses

No-No-No: You are all confused. An exotic wager on the horses means that you ask two ladies of the night who do you like in this race?

Thanks for the responses.

The reason I was asking is because 5 dimes is offering a 10% bonus on all win and "exotic" horse wagers. Upon questioning them though, they said that the 10% bonus on winning exotic wagers applies only to exacta and trifectas, that pick-3 and pick-4 wagers are not included. I told them that they should changed their wording and then realized I wasn't sure if there was a "standard" definition of "exotic" wagers for horses.

Good Luck,
Bart

Bart - I see why that is confusing. By what I thought the Pick 3 and Pick 4's would be considered exotics but the exacta's wouldn't be. In fact you are probably going to come out ahead if they "count" exacta's than you would if they count the Pick 3 and 4's towards your 10% bonus. Of course not all bettors are the same, some won't ever bet exacta's but I would think more dollars are bet there than on Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers? Could be wrong. For me I am definitely better off if they count all win wagers and use their definition of exotics.

Good question on whether or not if there is a widely excepted definition of an exotic wager. Got to be some horse people in the industry that know for sure.

Thanks Castaway. You know what maybe Dime is right, every track has their own definition of what an exotic wager is? If so than I agree with Bart they should spell out exactly what they classify as an exotic wager. Beginning to think there is no industry wide standard definition. Probably varies from place to place.....

Bart--I think they are playing word games with you-most of those payback systems are pretty much scams just forcing you to put money through to collect their 'bonus". Never did like the idea of anybody forcing me to bet into anything.

Irish-why aren't you ever in bed at 3;45 in the AM???

Is this my buddy Gino? If so when did you start posting here? LOL. Anyway 345AM is the prime time to get your bets in for the next day. Have to hit them before all the smart money lands. All the scavengers are picking up their crumbs off the overnight lines.

Agreed. Pick 3 or Pick 4 are definitely exoctics.

My 0.02c exactas are too.

Irish--you are the hardest working degenerate I know! Last time I saw you it was in the video feed for TBD! I'll get ahold of you before the local dogs leave town!

Patrick,

I'm starting to agree with you. I have gotten different feedback from people who I thought would all agree if there was a standard definition.

gino,

They weren't forcing me to bet into anything, I just figured that if I was going to bet a pick-3, or pick-4, why not do it somewhere that will add 10% to the winnings (within pre-stated maximum payout limits, as most offshore places have).

Thanks,
Bart

qs185 - Either way you WIN more playing exotics...just not as often. I love the excitement of laying down a few trifecta's.
