I'm guess 95% of us will say yes, but I'm curious if any "do-gooders" & "chicken-shits" will stop playing Online.

I'm still undecided ... mark me as a "half-chicken-shit" with an option to buy up to a "full chicken shit" upon bill passage

ill still keep playing offshore as well. just a simple matter of making sure you use one of the loopholes this bill will have.

Tell me if I'm crazy ..

... but WildBill got me thinking. The law (i believe) is only making it illegal to transfer funds for Gambling, so what if a company I dunno ... did currency exchanges for the v-chip

The didn't say we can't buy v-chips & once we have our v-chips in say Costa Rica, the US gov't is out of jurisdiction, no?

LOL Dell ... the "Big Dawg" of Offshore ...

.. I actually tailgated with the "Big Dawg" and his crew when Modell shipped the Browns out of town ... they'd drive 4 hours up to Rich Staduim (now Ralph Wilson Stadium) to party & watch the Bills ...
... great fans in Cleveland.

A study a few years ago among drug users and non-drug users revealed a very interesting tred -- over 90% of the non-drug users said they would not start using drugs if they were made legal tomorrow, and almost 80% of the drug users said that they understood fully the legal implications of usage and possession but simply didn't care.

In other words, the law doesn't effect anyone on either side of the fence, just like this one. I don't know the statistic but I bet the rate of recidivism for people busted for drugs is enormous.

LIke any other prohibition-style legislation, the banning of gambling would be just another silly piece of shit that most people who already gamble would ignore, and most who don't gamble, would ignore. One more source of revenue and control for the Leviathan State, nothing more and nothing less.

Landers, here is the stated purpose of the proposed law.

>>>Unlawful Internet Gambling Funding Prohibition Act (Engrossed as Agreed to or Passed by House)

108th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. R. 2143

AN ACT
To prevent the use of certain bank instruments for unlawful Internet gambling , and for other purposes.

HR 2143 EH

108th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. R. 2143

Definitions:

6) UNLAWFUL INTERNET GAMBLING - The term `unlawful Internet gambling' means to place, receive, or otherwise transmit a bet or wager by any means which involves the use, at least in part, of the Internet where such bet or wager is unlawful under any applicable Federal or State law in the State in which the bet or wager is initiated, received, or otherwise made.<<<<

Congress IS attempting to make internet gambling illegal. When/if this law passes the next step will be to implement penalties. As for making a bet over the internet, I foresee this as a likely punishment: …punishable by 1 year in the Federal Penitentiary and a fine not to exceed $50,000.

But the first objective is to stop the funding –by making internet gambling a federal crime. Then the feds will go after the bettors. Can’t beat the US Federal gov. boys. They are obsessed with writing laws… and even more obsessed with prosecuting “lawbreakers.”

Let me see if I have this correct. The new law (if there is one passed) does not impose any penalties on the player? If it does then I become 100% chickenshit. Folks--it would be TOO easy, VErryyyyyyyyyyy EASY for the government to get Neteller's records to see what US citizens were using them. Go to jail for a $20 bet on the Yankees or the Packers? Are U kidding me here? (Now I will not hesitate to claim gambling winnings as income--but punished for playing!!!

oldman...the penalties will come.

And if this law is passed the FBI will have jurisdiction. They will tell congress they need another 5000 agents to deal with all the new “lawbreakers” out there. They will then, from time to time, set up offshore sportsbook operations as ‘Stings.’ The objective of course will be seize U.S. citizen’s bankrolls…and levy a fat fine.

Offshore Sportsbooks are running out of time!! They need to pony up some big buck and do the time honored thing: start greasing senator’s palms! It’s very likely that the republicans are NOT going to remain in control of both Houses after next election. And this bill does not have bi-partisan support. So is now or never Leach & Co.

This is no longeer a question of breaking the law....

It is a question of freedom. Freedom on which this country was built! Freedom for which our ancestors fought and suffered!!!

You ask:
If this bill somehow became law, would I still gamble online?

I say:
YES!! Hell YES!! It is my duty. No, our duty to stand up and fight this law that will strip us of our God Given right to blow our hard earned lettuce where we damn well please. We are not children, we are men (and Women), living free (most of us) and hope to DIE FREE!!! (and possibly broke)
