I still have mine, do you?

Anyone ever had a guy come looking for them because of a large debt?

I did my own hunting when I was being stiffed, but I wasn`t about to resort to violence

I`m sure maybe JJ, Rail, or Strut (NWO) can tell a story or two on this subject

The whole credit thing has always seemed a mystery to me. The only thing more stupid than gambling on credit, would be extending credit to habitual gamblers. Yet, the practice seems very common. All the headaches and extra expense of dealing with stiffs just seems like it would outweigh the extra money a book would take in.

I can't imagine going to a book or anyone else to borrow money to gamble, and I am generally on the plus side of things as long as I don't follow my own picks.

Journey, you need to rent the movie "Pope of Greenwich Village" staring Micky Rourke and Eric Roberts if you haven't seen it already.

My Mafia connected "local" used to have a guy nicknamed "Ernie the Killer" who did all his collecting and legwork. I could never quite understand the nickname because he spoke very softly and was extremely polite. Ernie was a huge, dark complexed man in his mid 40's with black but graying hair, stubble beard, and what I'll never forget most about Ernie was the tattoo he had on the front of his throat that said "Keep Smiling". The tattoo was a homemade- looking job, but you couldn't help but see it when you spoke to him. It was even more noticeable because of the thick gold chain with the biggest Itlian horn I'd ever seen that hung off it. He also usually wore a white silk shirt that was always opened 3 or 4 buttons around his bull neck. He never said much, and as I said was soft -spoken and always left as quickly as he arrived.

Ernie long ago was found in the trunk of a car at the airport, and I long ago stopped playing with the local guys. If the new internet law is passed ---I suppose we'll see plenty of Ernies's back in full swing again and we can thank our politicians for that.

Phaedrus- You have a valid point but the way it works now with books stiffing post up players some people just don't want to deal with the risk of another book stiffing.

Another point is a book that does not extend credit has to have a great marketing team to get people to send $ to their book. It is kind of like card games that extend credit. If they didn't do it there would be no card game.

Anyone remember or ever see the newer, color (old now!) show of Twilight Zone when the two guys gambled on everything, and towards the end it showed them as two old men in an old folks home in wheelchairs playing chess, with limbs , etc. missing , and the guy who won the chess match was about to chop of the other guys finger?!.....

Phaedrus.....have you seen all of them and read the story behind it? The original starts with the kid being caught on hidden video, pretending to be a Jedi with some sort of stick, and some of his classmates discover the taped video of the kid making an ass out of himself. They then take the video and digitize it, making it look like a real lightsaber, and uploaded it to Kazaa! Since then , there have been a couple more made. Have you seen the matrix one and the latest Star Wars one?
