David Brinkley died Wednesday night at his home in Houston of complications from a fall, ABC News said Thursday.

During his career, which in recent years took him to ABC, Brinkley won 10 Emmy awards, three George Foster Peabody Awards and, in 1992, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.

"As DiMaggio was the most elegant and spare and graceful ball player of his generation, so too was David Brinkley among broadcast journalists." — George Will

Oscar-Winning Actor Was 87

June 12— Gregory Peck has died, only days after he was named the greatest hero in Hollywood history. He was 87.

Only days earlier, Peck topped the American Film Institute's list of top 100 movie heroes for his Oscar-winning portrayal of Atticus Finch in 1962's To Kill a Mockingbird. Peck played a genteel, small- town lawyer defending a black man accused of raping a white woman.

A five-time Oscar nominee, Peck was also known for his activism, and served as chairman of the American Cancer Society.

Why would George Will have to bring a dirtbag like Dimaggio into the equation.

A friend of mine who owns a deli and I had lunch with Joe D and his longtime friend/lawyer Morris Engelberg(who wound up fvcking him in the end) about 10 years ago. Joe was very cold and from what I hear Rail may be correct. Doesn't take away from the fact that he was the greatest ball player ever but..

I wouldn't have brought Dimaggio into that equation either. He was a great ballplayer but Railbird was right on the money. He was a first class piece of shit.

Dimaggio wouldn't appear at any baseball function unless he was introduced in a certain way. He was one of those people that thought he was better than everyone else. A true piece of garbage as a person.

Six months before he died I was at Bally's in AC and he was the star of an autograph show. I have him on video signing everything for 4-8 hundred a pop! Giving orders "let's go next"
"Keep the line moving"

On the other hand at that same show was Mattingly, Rizzuto, and Berra and they were perfect gentleman happy to sign for $50. I have rizzuto on video tape calling me a huckleberry it's the nuts!

Joe was nothing but a greasy guido ...

Swinging a big bat doesn't make you a good person.
