i can't disput him winning that award because without him in the nets for the ducks they would have never made it this far.

He was an easy choice for the award when based on all 4 series. That was another case of classless New Jersey/New York crowd booing him, and they wonder why people in the rest of the country think they are morons. Only place worse is Philly, there they probably would have thrown beer at him as he left the ice with trophy in hand.

I was disgusted that they booed him as their was no reason for that. I hate how idiots like those embarass us from the tri state area. I for one was very happy to see him win.

Everygambler,

You got to it before I did, usually the visiting team even gets applauded even if they "win" the cup. They couldn't applaud Giguere for taking his weak team all the way to game 7. Just brings to mind that people in New Jersey are like school on Sunday's.

Brodeur and GIGY both played at the highest level, but Brodeur played at that high level when it mattered. However, when you have Defensemen like Stevens et all and players are afraid to go across the middle then it makes it easier for goalies like Brodeur. Gigy doesn't have the D nor the system that NJ does and that is why he won despite playing average during the finals.

Not to mention who they faced in 4 series. Just beating Detroit and Dallas in a total of 10 games was a feat that may not be done again in decades and it was all thanks to him. Sure Brodeur played better at the end, but the vote is quite clearly for the playoff MVP, not the Finals MVP. If that were the case then Brodeur would have gotten the award. Still the best solution is to save the award until the annual awards show after the season. After all who cares about the award at a time when everyone is just there waiting to see the Cup?
