General, don't know if this qualifies as devastating but the Bills comeback vs the Oilers in the 1992 playoffs. It was definitely THE comeback but it was also devastating to Oiler fans.

I'd nail Tanya Harding in a minute. She's trashy, nasty and was really good in her honeymoon video. Her skating was a 8.5 but her performance in the video was a 10. I'd just make sure there were no hubcaps around her trailer while I was knocking it out.

OILERS/BILLS has to be the worst beat ever in pro sports. I grew up in Houston, and I remember that game as if it happened yesterday. That Oilers team wasnt an avg team with a chance that year, they were the best team in the NFL after handing it to SF at home 14-3 I believe a couple of weeks before. KEEP IN MIND THAT THE CITY OF HOUSTON HAD NEVER WON A CHAMPIONSHIP IN ANY SPORT!! At halftime I was about to switch it off and join some friends to celebrate (out of respect to the Bills). But like a bad train wreck that draws your attention, I decided to watch JUST a couple more plays and after another INT for a TD by HOU just after the half, Buffalo was stick three forks in them done. I jokingly told one of my buddies that didnt watch the NFL religiously "I bet Buffalo comes back". Even HE knew that wasnt going to happen. In a cruel twist of fate, HOU had oppurtunites to close the game out late, but every Oiler's fan knew the FG would be missed.

In Texas, football is less a sport than a religion. That game didnt just ruin a season, it dismantled a franchise, and ultimately stole professional football from the Houston area for several years. Bud Adams had little choice but to move the team shortly thereafter. What I dont understand is why a lot of Houstonians hated Bud but still rooted for the Titans.

That's why those two Rockets championship runs were OHH-SOO SWEEET. That Mario Elie Kiss of DEATH Trey almost fully recoverd me. And the phrase "never underestimate the HEART of a CHAMPION!" Rudy T's statement was more than just a trendy quote. The city of Houston now fully realized that it had a title, and no one (not even big chief triangle) could ever take that away. The city was now a CHAMPIONSHIP city, and could now be mentioned in the same sentences with Boston, LA, CHI etc. It's a big deal to not have a championship, you get left out of all the coversation regarding great teams from the past. I still think a Rockets/Bulls series would have been classic during those two years.

IMO, college sports are more emotionally attaching. If you attended a university you have more staked. You are actually a part of that institution. And no single sporting event means more for hopes and dreams than each and every college football game. In the NCAA football season the playoffs start almost every year with game one.
