NETELLER QUESTION??? CONCERN?

Maybe this has already been brought up – if so, sorry – but I just want to know if this is a cause for concern. Most of you have noticed that when you attempt to deposit via Neteller you are required to enter TWO parts of your security codes. I have noticed that now books are requiring you to enter your Neteller 12 digit ID & PASSWORD.

Didn't it used to be your 12 digit ID & 6 digit security ID? I know at the Pinnacle it used to be, but not any more. My concern is this: Could not a book (an unscrupulous book, of course) have kept your 6 digit security ID, then acquire your password with this new procedure? If so, the book now has (cold have) all three pieces of info. to open your Neteller. Right? And, correct me if I’m wrong, but there’s no way to change your Security ID, only your password. So no matter how many times you change your password, the book an unscrupulous book could always know it, right? Or, maybe I’m being TOO CYNICAL.

Yes, that is a real concern.

Also some books ask for your ID and secure ID. Others ask for your ID and password. At the very least, in concert yes they could run a hell of a messy scam.

You should only provide your NETeller Account ID and Secure ID on gaming sites. This is what is required to interface to the NETeller payment system.

This can be confusing to web site developers and customers alike and it is possible that the developers simply labelled the form field incorrectly as Password vs. Secure ID.

If you are in doubt about the practice being used I would suggest you contact NETeller regarding the website in question.

Some books ask for the Password, some ask for your SecureID.

Actually, if my memory serves me, a couple can do it with only your E-Mail address.

I don't know why Neteller doesn't standardize this.

Carib and Pinnacle specifically ask for your Neteller PASSWORD.

I'm sure if these two do, then other books are doing it. I don't like giving out my password, and don'see any need for it. This is not good.

Someone from Neteller should come in here and address this issue, IMO

When depositing at Carib or Pinnacle, and many other books, it usually brings up a window which is Netellers, therefore you aren't entering the info at the book but at neteller. It's simply a shortcut to your neteller account.

Correct if I'm wrong.

The Neteller logo is displayed when you deposit at the Pinnacle and Carib, leading you to believe you are connectng to Neteller directly.
But can this information be captured by the site you're makng your Neteller deposit thru?

And why is your PASSWORD necessary?

There are 2 ways to deposit to NETeller.

One is the older way, which is via a NETeller popup window. You should always verify the actual URL of this window to ensure you are at the NETeller site before disclosing your account password.

The second way is depositing via NETeller on a form on the gaming site, and is known as NETeller Direct. Any site employing this method should only ask for your Account and Secure ID. The NETeller password should NOT be asked for, nor given. This second methods has the advantage in that your gaming account balance can be automatically updated. No need to call customer service to verify your transaction.

Thanks for the reply Mercado. But I'm still left wondering here. If you attempt to make a deposit at Carib or the Pinnacle, you click on Neteller, then a pop-up window appears. The Neteller logo is displayed. You are then asked to provide your 12 digit ID... and your PASSWORD. I know at the Pinnacle they used to ask for your 6 digit secure ID. Now it's your passwords. SO what is your suggestion at this point? Provide password or not?

When you do a neteller transfer at carib the page appears withing their frame asking for neteller id and password, but the page is actually

This can be confusing, but you are actually giving neteller you password, not carib. Same with the pop-up window other site have like WSEX.

Right click on the page and look at properties to see the actual url of the page you are viewing.

Thanks lakerfan. I know both these sites (Carib and Pinnacle) are trustworthy, but I wanted to make sure there was NO WAY my PASSWORD could be intercepted by them. So according to you, NO it can't. I'll believe you.

Kongen, Lakerfan etc are right.

I posted before, no one should EVER ask for your neteller password. I have never given my password to any book, some of the books have direct deposit links to neteller where your password is necessary...
