Last Christmas day a little miracle took the Whittaker family by storm. Jack Whittaker won the biggest undivided jackpot in the history of Powerball. And a merry Christmas it must have been.
After winning a heavenly $315 million Jack opted for a lump sum payment of $113 million after tax. Now, some folk would take the money and run, but not the Whittaker’s. Unlike a lot of people they must have decided that even $113 million is an awful big amount to go around one family. Perhaps they were inspired by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.

Whatever their motive the Whittaker family has decided to share their Xmas winnings with one and all. Having founded the Jack Whittaker Foundation they are now welcoming any requests for financial charity. They even put the Foundation on a web site recently so Tiny Tim’s around the world can ask for help with a simple click.

Well, ok, it’s not that simple. To help stop the Scrooges out there from taking advantage of the Whittaker’s good fortune you have to fill out a form. Your request is then duly considered by the Foundation.

Bill Bissett, a spokesman for the Jack Whittaker Foundation, said Whittaker and his family are very involved in the donation process and decide what requests to grant. So far, they've granted about $500,000 worth.
