I think some would feel safer, only because if this happened there would be laws adopted in the US to govern your deposits sort of like the FDIC insures banks...IMO what are your feelings?

Of course we would feel safer for OUR MONEY if it was regulated by the U.S. Gov't.

But I'm not sure if I would feel safer for my Privacy as a gambler, as they may start tracking our gambling habits and associate it with our SSN and maybe somehow tie that to our credit reports which most employers can get access to.

How would you feel the next time you go to buy a new car and they turn you down because you gamble too much? That would be pretty screwed up especially if you lose alot.

There are MANY complications to this regulation and legalization process. it will be a bumpy road but one we must travel down sooner or later.

IBet, good points.

I like things the way they are. No BigBrother to waste time dealing with. No taxes to pay.

Privacy is the main reason i would stick with Offshores even if it does become legal here (it will), at least until the US govmnt found a way to shut them out to us. And once US based casinos are bringing in the $$$ the US will find a way to quickly close out 70% of the non-us tax dollar generating books to us..lol

All hypothetical, but, it is what i see happening.

I like things just the way they are, with the exception of there being ZERO regualtion in places such as Costa Rica. But, i still think the risk/reward ratio is well worth the privacy i have in dealing with offshores. Just stick with the books you trust..

Never even considered trying out the casinos online.

Might as well just have a shredder next to your comp. and lose your money there, imo.

JJ . when I do , in rare moments, play the sportsbooks casino games...I have a strict limit I am going to lose..I think some of them bait you into losing big hands trying to recoup your losses...I go in on rare occassions and play very small ..

My problem with money in offshore books is, what happens if I get hit by a truck, how do my heirs get the money back......

I asked this question on the forums and the answers were few and not very encouraging....

I have to disagree guys, I have won thousands in the past, although I very, rarely play them anymore. I do though, believe they track your winnings, have different difficulty settings for the software, and , can even be operated manually at times. You just have to know when to get out, and Dell Dude can probably verify everything I've just mentioned. My belief is, each casino, has a "set amount" they are willing, or allowed to "let" players win that specific day, and it is probably random. Therefore, some people may come in directly after someone has hit them big, and become victims of "payback time". Someone , or whoever is working the casino dept. that day or shift, keeps up with the status of profits and losses, and are allowed to randomly "let" a certain individual win, or lose, depending on that certain time of the day or weeks gains and losses. They claim they all use a "random generator" which has been tested exstensively, and that is probabl true, but at times, they kick that sucker up to a higher, more difficult level if needed..........My beliefs, anyhow.....

Uncle B.,
Totally agree on off-shore casino gambling. I am avid 21 player in Nevada and Miss. among other places. What I have seen over the past ten years of play makes me barely trust the casinos to deal a honest game when the cards are physically dealt 3 feet from my eyes to bet off-shore (other than sportsbetting) seems very foolish to me.

For what's it worth, I have an account on playmgmmirage (MGM's online casino), and it's okay. The extent of testing etc required by the Isle of Man is very extensive. There is 0% chance of getting 'cheated' here. The odds however on the video poker and slots are a little tight though, but if I hit a large jackpot I wouldn't feel that I needed to get my cash out of there instantly either.

I am in the UK. And having lived in among other places Vegas, I can say that for being a gambler (or bm) this is the place to be. No hassles, no problems. Most people use their debit cards here to gamble online or phone. If you win, it goes right back into your bank the next day. The limits online here are very large on soccer where £10k isnt abnormal. There are plenty of online casinos here that are perfectly on the up and up. There are currently two casino's in Alderney (Skybet-BskyB the dish company, and Ritz Casino - the ritz's casino here in London a real casino), and the MGM's in IoM. The Venitian also will be in Alderney.

I can honestly say that I have never been stiffed online (for sports or casino) ever...Lucky? Maybe..But I just play in the big shops and read the Rx everyday

gotta win: make sure that your heirs know all the personal information on file that the books have, such as acct numbers, passwords, mothers maiden, etc. Your heirs should be able to remove your money online and turn it over to your estate. Also, if you leave your heirs power of attorney, they might be able to remove the funds. I am not an attorney, however,so I am not really sure. One problem with this would be if one does not trust his family members. With me that is not a problem.

Slots - Then it sounds like the UK is the place to live! Epecially if you're a gambler.

Any problems regarding privicy as I stated my concerns for the U.S. with legalized online gambling?

Please enlighten us.

Gambling winnings aren't taxable in the UK so the govt doesnt care(for gamblers, biz's pay gaming tax). We have the Data Protection Act here which makes it illegal to give out personal information to other companies without your okay. There really isn't any big stigma with gambling here its an exceptable form of entertainment.

The funny thing is you'd probably have an easier time listing 'bookmaker' as your profession to get a bank loan than manny other things

Slots - Consider yourself lucky to be in the UK. It's way different in the states, well at least for now.

I wish we had the Data Protection Act here in the U.S.
