Adrian McPherson, a former Florida State quarterback, has been charged with a misdemeanour count of gambling. McPherson allegedly placed bets through the Internet and always wagered on the Seminoles to win. It is believed he owes thousands of dollars to a Tallahassee man.
McPherson started four games for the Seminoles during the 2002 season, but spent much of the season backing up sophomore Chris Rix. In November, McPherson was dismissed from the team by coach Bobby Bowden for being involved in the theft of a blank check that was eventually cashed for $3,500.

The trial will commence the first week of June on a gambling charge that stems from a local and state police probe into gambling on FSU's campus. Investigators alleged he placed sports bets, including bets on FSU football games, over the Internet and through a local bookie, according to court records. McPherson has denied gambling but either way does not face jail time if convicted.

McPherson’s lawter, Attorney Grady C. Irvin Jr., insists that the rising star was unfairly singled out for prosecution, though an investigation found no widespread gambling problem on campus
