BALTIMORE, 05-11-03---The ever changing field for Saturday’s $1 million Preakness Stakes® continued to be modified today as Peace Rules, Kissin Saint and Alysweep were added to the field, while Indian Express will miss the middle jewel because of injury. A field of nine is now expected with two other possibilities.

This morning Bobby Frankel announced that Peace Rules would be his Preakness runner. The third place finisher in last weekend’s Kentucky Derby will be ridden by former Maryland star Edgar Prado. The Edmund Gann horse will be Frankel’s third Preakness starter. The Louisiana Derby and Blue Grass winner will van from New York to Pimlico on Wednesday or Thursday.

Kissin Saint, who finished third behind Empire Maker and Funny Side in Wood Memorial, was added to the mix after the Lisa Lewis trainee worked this morning at Belmont Park, while Patrick Reynolds did the same with Alysweep, the Gotham winner.

Lewis was born in Baltimore and attended St. Timothy’s School through the ninth grade before relocating to Florida. She will become the 11th female trainer to condition a Preakness starter.

Bob Baffert informed Pimlico racing officials that Indian Express suffered a minor foot injury and as a result will pass on the Preakness. Senor Swinger will represent the conditioner, who has saddled four of the last six Preakness winners. This is the eighth straight year that he has run a horse in Maryland’s signature event.

The list of likely starters also includes Kentucky Derby winner Funny Cide, Scrimshaw, Cherokee’s Boy, Champali and Midway Road.
