Can an 18-year old make good money as a cocktail waitress

It pertains to ct. I ..don't know the laws, here. I believe it's legal ! I'm lazy, and ask the board here !

I'll describe the girl, Pretty damn good looking , about 5' 5 "" 120 lbs.. barely graduated HS, not Real top-notch college material.

I ask is it better for a marginal student, to attempt college, or become a casino cocktail waitress, she has the attributes of making big money , without college ! IMO !

I think she has potential for $500 + a shift, after a brief break-in period. The girl has the looks for it, she's small in the chest area, but knows how to work a guy over, for money !

What can she make ? Sorry no pics to be posted !

I'd think $500 a night/ or shift is quite do-able, after a training and learning period.

Please keep this thread clean !

I'm asking what a cocktail waitress can make, I'd venture 6 figures, without too much trouble !

Also important, is 18 or 21 , the age ? , to be able to do this ?

500.00 is a lot for a waitress on a shift, even in connecticut...

I wouldnt think they could make that on a normal shift anywhere....

Cloese to 6 figures is doable.

Depending on shift hours and pit location of course.

She needs some juice so they don't stick her in the nickel slots!

Don't mean to be impolite... But obviously she would want to consider some work done to the chest area to maximize her tips. No disrespect intended. Just tell the truth. Boys will be boys you know!

I have dated no less than three cocktail waitresses in Vegas and thus have a pretty good feel for this.

My one gal worked at Harrahs center strip, swing shift, average looking 33 year old, friendly..........she would bring in 250-400 per shift.

99% of the people working bartending, serving, cocktailing jobs aren't going to be making over $30,000 a year. Tell her to go to college, she can always choose to cocktail waitress with a degree, but she can't get the job she wants with a cocktailing degree.

You are not correct in this statement.........you would have to be one piss poor cocktail waitress and work at one crappy joint if your not making over over $30,000 a year.

Clay: I worked graveyard at a dive on Fremont street, made 30k easy !

Fish: 75k seems a real number, attainable, without being crazy, most realistic, but beatable, if you work it right !

Yes you can make some good money but when you make money like that and are young you will piss they will piss it all away.Shopping,clubbing,boose,etc.
Where are all these hot young strippers and cocktail waitresses living!Maybe in a condo,not to say there aren't any that are wise w/their money but imo there are very few.Next she better hope she makes a ton becasue depending on how she holds up she can maybe do this for 25 years maybe before they stick her in nickel slot land and she gets pissed and quits.Then what?

I was referring to CT. clearly someone cocktailing at the Bellagio in Vegas is going to make more than someone cocktailing at the local Dive Bar in Bristol, Connecticut.

As a whole though most people in the industry greatly exaggerate what they really make and most people don't make over $30,000. Especially when you factor in seasonal locations, bad shifts or stations for the new employee, days or nights that aren't as good as others, tip outs, etc. etc.

She's like me, I'm not saying that's good ! Her sister is frugal, college girl, but this girl is more of a free spirit !

single women UNDER 30 were (at one point) the fastest group of home buyers in vegas. these women were pulling in at least 60-80k/year and found they could buy homes. i have read more than a few stories about women who have MBAs "ditching" them and being cocktail waitresses because they made a LOT more money.

the simple fact is there is a direct correlation between her looks and tip amount. the younger and hotter she looks - the more tips she will get and vice versa. we all know why so no need to get into more detail.

$50K USD/yr on the upside, perhaps, and tax-free as most girls don't declare or grossly underdeclare. But a nickel a shift, equating to 120 dimes a year? NO F'N WAY.

Doug, she should be going to college. So what if she can make a lot of money. It is the way she would be making the money which is disturbing. I would never want my daughter whoring her body out to scumbags and wearing skimpy clothes just for tips.

Nothing can substitute education. I know lots of people with money and no brains. If that is what you want for your step daughter, then I guess it is ok.
