I just got my electricity back after Frances. I went to Jax to avoid the storm and was online with dial-up at my bro's. It is absolutely brutal using a phone. It's like a turtle vs jet. Would hate having to use aol-phone long term.

Have used dial-up in the past, and got by. But at this point, I don't think I could survive without high speed (in my case cable).

I am still using dial-up out of sheer laziness...

The cable company here makes you set it up yourself, why I have balked ...again sheer laziness on my part...last night AOL pushed me over the top, timing out several times...

JMAN- You have to get cable pal!

Kyhawk- Lets go to the IOWA-IOWA ST. game and avoid this next hurricane.

Should have stayed in Iowa, the weather is fantastic there.

Phone company sucks, I don't even bother with a regular line. I have cable internet and just got Vonage a few months ago, mostly for the cheap international calls. Why waste $22 on phone service when your cell gives you plenty of minutes?

I use DSL and it's great. I can't even imagine how it could be really be any faster. I guess maybe if you do a lot of heavy downloads. The key to whatever you use is RELIABILITY. Some cable connections are unreliable in some areas.
