Is this possible? Can they climb high enough in the polls? Would like to hear opinions.

I already bet it +8500, despite the fact that there is a chance that even if they go undefeated they may not be high enough. Anyone know if its possible.?

Very doubtful they'll get high enough.

If they keep winning, they'll probably get to #6-7 in the polls.

But then they'll hit the glass ceiling. Voters aren't going to move them ahead of the top teams from the SEC, Big 10, ACC, Big 12, etc.

Tulane and Marshall have had a couple seasons where they've hit the Top 10 or so...and then they're stuck there for the final 3-4 weeks of the season.

It will be hard for them to do but not impossible in my opinion.

Looking at the current rankins, lets play a little :

USA Today/ESPN
1. USC (43)
2. Oklahoma (12)
3. LSU (6)
4. Georgia
5. Miami (FL)
6. Florida State
7. Michigan
8. Texas
9. Ohio State
10. Florida
11. West Virginia
12. Kansas State
13. Iowa
14. California
15. Tennessee
16. Clemson
17. Missouri
18. Auburn
19. Utah
20. Virginia
21. Maryland
22. Wisconsin
23. Minnesota
24. Oregon
25. Purdue

All the teams in front of them in some way will meet some of the other teams in front of them. Lets just say one of the teams above them goes undefeated which on paper USC has the best chance to do, an undefeated Utah team would have a case imo.

EGD, just playing Devil's Advocate, here is the problem.

Even if Utah makes it to #3 or #4, they'd probably get leap-frogged by any big conference team that gets a "big" win.

For example, if Utah was #3...and Michigan was #4. If Michigan beats Ohio St, Michigan would probably get enough votes to pass Utah.

Or maybe Texas/Oklahoma were behind Utah...but then if Texas/Oklahoma won the Big 12 Champ game, they'd leap-frog Utah.

Very FEW top 15 teams were impressive on opening weekend.

One never knows.

I really like this UTAH team.

You do bring up valid points. Utah would probably benefit from no late season upsets if they run the table.

I agree with you here. Arizona is probably their biggest test yet only because Stoops is there.

Pigs will fly, elephants will dance before Utah makes it to the Orange Bowl.
And I think Urban Meyer is one of the best coaches in the country. But the MWC is Weak with a capital W, and there is no chance in hell they big boys will put them in there if they are undefeated.

They remind me alot of Fresno St when Carr was there...but the difference is Fresno State played a tougher schedule...its virtually impossible for them to get there...Unless they go undefeated and everyone else has 3 losses...

You gotta love the job Meyer has already done...

Great future for this coach!

Look no farther than last year when Northern Illinois beat Maryland, 'Bama, and Iowa St. Made it up to about 8th but there was no way they were going to get a BCS game.

Northern Illinois beat name teams though as only Maryland of the 3 was a solid win.

True but what big-name school will play Utah, espically in Provo. Strength of Schedule will be around 70. I know SOS is not to be counted but these voters from power conferences will stick to the teams they see.

More examples are TCU, and Tulane when Shawn King was there. I know Tulane was undefeated.
