Baseball Cards

I realize this is a bit off topic, but...

I found my boxes of baseball cards tonight. Good stuff, some 1970s, but mostly 1980s and early 1990s. Some complete sets and a lot of random, random stuff.

I've been out of that racket for more than 10 years. How would I go about pricing this material and possibly selling. I am not sure I want to sell, but I would like to figure out how much they may be worth.

Also, is it worth going to somebody for an appraisal? My gut tells me no, because they'll just want to lowball me to buy at a cheap price.

There are price guides everywhere..if you have 70's cards in mint condition you may very well have a nice chunck of change...

Try baseball beckett monthly. although i havent bought an issue in years, i believe it is still in print

I wouldn't even know where to begin. Some of the better stuff: early Bonds, McGwire (I may have a few of his Olympic Card).

A lot of Tops, Donruss and some Fleer circa 1984 to about 1990.

I have some Don Mattingly cards, including his rookie card. I have some odd basketball and football cards though off the top of my head I don't even remember what exactly.

I think I have the 1986 Donrus complete set. I have a lot of those old "Diamond Kings and Rated Rookies."

The 70s cards, unfortunately, are hit and miss. I picked a lot of that stuff up at shows when I was younger.

Maybe I'll catalog it this weekend and let you know. I never planned on doing anything with them and was cleaning off a shelf tonight and started going through the boxes.

I'd like to check out a Beckett or something and then see if I'd sell them off to a dealer.

Early Nolan Ryan cards use to have a lot of value..happy hunting! I am curious to hear what you come up with....Keep us informed, sounds like a treasure hunt to me.

You can plan on getting 50% of what ever Beckett says and that's only the stuff someone realy wants, best of luck..

There's a website I found called www.naxcom.com that is excellent for buying and selling. You could list your merchandise for sale or respond directly to a buy order from someone.

I like it better then ebay because you can sell stuff instantly if someone has a buy order in for something you've got. Also, there are no transaction fees until your item actually sells.

BAUS: I know I have no complete sets from the 1970s. That much I can tell you. After I posted, I went through more boxes last night and continue to find just a lot of random stuff.

If I get some time this weekend, I am going to go through the boxes and see what I have. I don't expect to make any real money off of these and I don't even know if I am going to sell anything. Maybe I'll keep them in the boxes again for another decade.

Baus;

I've got Topps Complete Sets from 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979.

I have been looking to possibly unload them for the right offer.

I would suggest if you have any cards valued at possibly $60 and up to have them professionally graded and encased by a company such as PSA.

that would be my favorite era...what are those complete sets worth now? At one time I had all those 70's cards many times over....I also had the 1970 set in mint condition...stupidly I sold them and got about 40 cents on the dollar...I believethe 1970 set may be listed at 2 grand ...atleast that was the price las I looked...I could be wrong....but I believe thats what i saw.

screw those priceguides. the only way to really know what they are worth is to look on ebay and see what people are actually paying for the cards.

i just sold some cards on ebay and the prices are different than the books say.

I have a wheaties box ,with the cereal still in it that says lakers 1987-88 back to back champions.Anybody have any idea what this is worth?
