The article is a good description of what is happening in CR today as far as Americans go. What could change all that is a mass exodus from Costa Rica by American run sportbooks. With the global politics being what they are anything is possible. I am not saying an exit is going to happen anytime soon, just if one does, then American clerks and lower management employees would become players again. The books would have to set up somewhere else, and wherever that might be, it will not come with a pre-trained labor pool. The long process of training locals would have to resume once again. Enter the gringo vagabon clerk, once again in demand.

How are CR books " American-run " I think CR will remain a big player in offshore !

Doug, the very most upper level management of the majority of sportbooks in CR is American. Moving lower you begin to find locals who have learned the business, linesman, CSD personnel, clerks, accoutnting, technical staff etc. are all now predominately locals. You may well be right about CR reamining a big player offshore. My comments are my opinion of what MIGHT happen if for some reason, political or otherwise the CR books are forced to re-locate. Will a relocation happen at all? I have no idea. Can it happen? Of course.

Good point Wil. History does tend to repeat itself. I should mention that some have told me other jurisdictions, especially Belize, still offer some hope. Still those places are no more certain in their future, even more so with Antigua supposedly talking deal with the US.
