I took SF today -104 action game for a nickel. SF had a pitching change and the new line opened around +125 with my book. Now my question is this what will my new bet be? Will it be 500 to win 625, will it be 520 to win 650, or something different? I list pitchers 99% but this time I didn't, and I've never ran into this before.

Thanks

Playing action you will get the adjusted line, which if it is +125 then you will risk the 500 to win 625.

You sure it's $500 and not $520 ?

Halifax, you are most likely right, he has whatever he was risking at the new price.

Thanks, wil.

It's never happened to me, so I'm not sure, but I think I read somewhere that for post-up accounts, the norm is to use the "Risk" amount of the original bet as the "Risk" amount for the adjusted bet.

I guess the rationale is that there may not be enough money in the post-up account to cover the bet if they did it the other way (if someone originally Risked $500 to win $1000 on a +200 bet, and the adjusted odds are +100, they would need to risk $1000 to win that same $1,000, and they might not have the $1,000 in their account to wager with).

Hitman, you need to be accurate in your question. You say you bet a nickel, then you have a nickel on SF. If you bet enough to win a nickel on the fav, then say it. The common sense answer would be the amount you wagered does'nt change, only the price.

In my experience Hal is correct. The risk amount stays the same. So in this case sice you were risking 520 to win 500, now you should have 520 to win 650. As the book should use the opening line to determine the adjusted odds.

Persoanlly I hate action bets because if the book had a lot of action unbalanced action at -104, its worth it for them to fade the opening line and then quickly move it.

Chuck: The play was SF -1.04 action game 520 to win 500.

Marc you were right. My book charged me with -520 for the play.

BTW: it was a credit shop and not a post up
