Don't they know the Yankees and the Mets are playing tomorrow. How can this not be the Sunday Night game. Everyone wants to see this "epic" matchup. Instead, they are showing the Cubs-White Sox.

yanks/mets were the game LAST weekend

they are only allowed to show each team "X" amount of times on sunday night and having showed them last week - it is time to move on to something "fresh" for this week.

also - keep this in mind

the yankees and mets receive a LOT of money from their local tv entities. these people want to show a yankees/mets game as often as they can - and aren't crazy about paying a lot of money for a seasonal package and not getting as many mets/yankees games as they can.

sorry - but as much as i love to rip ESPN - here they are doing the right thing.

surprisingly due to the holiday, there are 2 espn games tomorrow night...the other being the dodgers/angels on espn 2 at 10 est....

better than reruns of the "2003" world series of poker again...

I am sure nationally there is as much interest in Cubs-Sox as there is in Yanks-Mets. Outside of New York some people really don't care...

Actually last year ESPN showed Yanks-Mets home and home on 2 consecutive Sunday nights. Surprised they didn't this year. Outside of the east coast, noone cares about this rivalry. Cubs-ChiSox would draw better numbers except it is July 4.

I think ESPN sucks. I used to be a ESPN fanatic, but theres so much crap I cant stand about them. I still watch a lot of it, but much of their crap annoys me. the WSOP was over like 2 months ago, but after its conclusion they decided to play the 2003 series several more times and they have yet to show anything from the 2004 WSOP. . .then they run the Contreras story like a 100 times. .the programming from 1pm to 5pm east. is like non existent. .they stuff they do have thats cool, they hardly show. screw them

I know an analyst that covers Disney stock and he spends lots of time talking to ESPN management. He says they would love to upgrade the programming, but there just isn't a way to keep two networks on 24 hours a day and not have dead spots. One thing that has really gotten to them is the leagues are basically tightening the screws every year in terms of how much they can show games, when they can show them, and even how many times they can show them. Add to that every second rate activity or league thinks they are worth money so they won't give rights cheap anymore just for the free exposure. They have tried to do deals with all the minor leagues and none are willing to talk, but they all wanted live games at times when there already was plenty of programming so they had to walk away from it. Their idea was that almost every weekday instead of those worthless programs show a AAA or AA game live with the marketing of "watch the future stars of the game", but it got vetoed because the leagues would rather insist on having one game in prime time a week than five or more during lesser hours.

I am not saying they aren't immune to criticism, but lets face it they really have little choice. What else can they show, everything original costs money.
