....in mid-summer rememberance of the great C.T. here in Tampa Bay....who left us just a few ticks too soon to see the Lightning win The Cup and also to see the Devil Rays come into the final series before the AllStar Break playing the Yankees with a fanciful shot at setting up a second half pennant chase in the AL East, ala the Florida Marlins last year.

So join us along with Clevis (weeky week), Freebus (honk!) and Old Yellow Dawg (insert favorite fart sound here) as we join the Rays in progress of working the hated Bronx Bombers 3 of 4, warming the hearts of Yankee-Hating Americans from coast to coast.....not to mention dropping some significant CHING into the Short Term Investing Pockets of those brave enough to put their Unit where their Mouth is.
(ewwwwwww, I Like That!)

Series Overview

The upstart Devil Rays roll into the Bronx, NY on a tear that is getting downright stupid, not only for Wins, but of course for CHING.

This is not just an 8-2 'hot streak' anymore. Since May 20 when the Rays rebounded from a stuffing via Curt Schilling and beat Derek Lowe and the Red Sox 9-6, the Stingers from St Pete have carved 31 notches on their AL East record to go with only 13 setbacks.

Following the win vs Lowe, the Rays have left their bootprint on the neck of CLEVELAND, MINNESOTA, BALTIMORE, TORONTO, SAN DIEGO, SAN FRANCISCO, COLORADO, FLORIDA and ARIZONA.

Only the dreaded Bronx Bombers have won a Series from them, taking 2 of 3 at St Pete just seven days into the Run.

Meanwhile the boys in pinstripes have presented their own version of a run, logging a mark of 27-15. But that's with a 14-4 run on the front end and just a 13-11 as of late.

The Yankees offense has been HR or nothing with a modest .264 average (just .254 vs RHP) and numerous pile on games. Only two guys can steal (Arod and Jeter) but that's not likely much versus the Rays' Toby Hall.

Tampa Bay should have little trouble running on the Yanks and with the SP of NY being Home Run Bunnies, should be able to match power, much like the Metropolitans did last week in their own series sweep of the Yanks.

Look for the Rays burner OF trio of Crawford, Baldelli and Joe Cruz Jr to play defense much like they did in spacious San Diego which will give the Tampa Bay SP a bit more room to operate versus the fly ball banging New Yorks.

While the Rays SP has been steady and the bullpen strong though unproven, the Yankees SP is in shambles, as demonstrated by this dismal group joining J Vasquez in facing the Rays over four games:

Joe Contreras 6.10 ERA and 18 bombs allowed in just 62 innings.

Jon Lieber 4.97 with an OBA of .307

Miguel Mussina 5.20 with an OBA of .302

Tampa Bay open at +140 with Zambrano, and it should be nothing but higher pricing from there....thus two wins makes CHING, and three, well three means
