HOUSTON (Ticker) -- Michael Cooper coaches his final game with
the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday when his team takes on the
Houston Comets.
Cooper announced earlier in the week that he is stepping down as
Sparks coach to take a job as an assistant with the Denver
Nuggets. He has amassed a career record of 127-31 and led Los
Angeles to back-to-back WNBA titles in 2001-02 before losing to
Detroit last season in the WNBA Finals.
Los Angeles won its fifth straight with a 66-61 victory at San
Antonio on Friday. Lisa Leslie collected 18 points and 10
rebounds to lead the Sparks, who scored 44 points after
halftime.
Houston has lost three straight following an 82-63 loss at
Detroit on Tuesday. Michelle Snow collected 13 points and 14
rebounds for the Comets.
