espn reports that Houston, when and if they decide they are out of it, may look to unload Beltran to someone and that Roger Clemens may be interested in a trade to Boston to help the Red Sox win one before he retires.

Clemens to Boston does make some sense, Roger likes them still, the fans there are great to him and he knows how much a title would mean in Boston. The only reason he left is cause Dan Duquette ( who Roger hates) pushed him out the door. Duquette is long gone, so its up to Roger, pitch out the string for Houston or go to Boston and maybe be part of history.

As a red sox fan, with the offense clicking, just IMAGINE a playoff rotation of
1- Schilling
2- Martinez
3- Clemens
4- Wakefied
5- Back to Schilling Martinez and Clemens, if they have not beat the opponent by now.

I mean whoever they are playing would have SERIOUS problems with that 1-2-3 PUNCH

stay tuned

When I saw this post I was going to reply "we don't want him" but after reading it you make a lot of sense. Imagine that.If he came back and was a deciding factor in the Sox winning.I had a chance to go to the first 20 strikeout game.I was playing some street hockey and my buddy Chris C came by with an extra ticket.I didnt want to see the lowly Mariners so I respectfully declined and Danny D took my place.Stupied eh?

Borat - I got that beat, seriously. I had two tickets for game 6 of the 1975 World Series (Yep the Carlton Fisk game). A customer of mine (I was a bartender) gave them to me as gift. The game was scheduled to be played on a Sat. night which I could not get off, so I sold the tickets to a customer and gave the money to the original owner. The sad part is the the game was rained out Sat. and Sunday and was played on Monday night, my day off. I had to watch the greatest game in Sox history on TV.

Houston Astro's owner says it will never happen. He went on to say, "get a Clemens trade out of your(reporters) head".

Would rather see Randy Johnson pitching for Sox. I see Clemens fading down the stretch, plus love/hate relationship between him and Boston fans is very complex.

Wil, sounds like you oughta sue Goodwill Hunting screenwriter for gettting inspiration from your true - life story.

Mudbone, how true, I like that movie a lot, but that is exactly what I thought of when Robin Williams tells Matt Damon the how I met my wife story. I swear my story is true, the next day at the bar the guy who bought the tickets was all smiles, and rubbing it in like hell. Hey wil, thanks man, great seats, almost caught a foul off Yaz's bat, at least he could have brought me a program, but nooooo.

I hope they both go to the Yankees.

And I hope the Yankees get Barry Bonds and have him agree to play second base.

And I hope the Yankees win the next 17 World Series.

And that there's a split championship in college football this year.

I hope the system gets fixed...

I don't get these rumors. They are only about 4 games out of a playoff spot. They have a club house full of guys that will get pissed off if they trade him. Remember what happpened in Chicago some years ago when everyone thought the GM had given up on them. I just can't see that happening again.

dealing rodger anywhere at all let alone Boston, would be cheap and petty. the man did not come out of retirement to become some lousy pawn in a trade.

rob,
he has a no-trade clause. they can't trade him against his will, but if he wants a trade to Boston, he could request it.

I checked Houston's standings they are about 4 games out of a playoff spot, so this deal is very unlikely, but it is within the realm of possibility. One thing, there are 7, count them, 7 teams AHEAD of Houston for the wild card, not counting division leaders, and Florida is tied with them. Is houston going to the playoffs? No. They are one of nine teams fighting for one wild card berth. Those aint good odds!

Red Sox fans need Houston to lose like 11 games in a row now, then we'll see what tune their owner sings.

Clemens could politely ask for a trade if he wants it, if they say no, he could threaten to retire right then and there and they would get nothing for him. If they trade him, at least they could get a couple nice prospects and build for the future.

Yea, if nothing else Clemens could retire again and come out of retirement again to sign as a free agent with another team next season. Great pitcher but also a great slimeball.

The Red Sox need another starting pitcher but I certainly hope it won't be Roger Clemens. He dogged it during his last two seasons in Boston and I think he's a gutless dog. He'll be in the Hall of Fame but he lacks two important qualities even a plaque in Cooperstown can't give someone. Class and heart.

randy johnson would fit in just as well. he could go to new york, could go to boston. personally, I think he wants to stay where he is and he goes nowhere.

curt schilling will lobby him at the all-star game to not block a trade to boston.

the good thing about the clemens rumor, unlike johnson, is that clemens would only go to boston. there is no way he goes to the yankees. johnson is 50/50 if he moves.
