THOSE WHO DEFINE RICH AS "CASH" ARE WRONG IN MY OPINION. IF YOU HAVE A PORTFOLIO THAT IS WELL SPREAD OUT, BOTH IN STOCK'S , BOND'S, REAL ESTATE,BUISNESS VENTURES,ETC, YOU MAY NOT BE LOADED WITH CASH OR VERY LIQUID BUT YOU CAN BE VERY RICH. I KNOW GUYS WHO HAVE ALOT OF CASH BUT WOULD NOT EVEN CALL THE WEALTHY LET ALONE RICH........JUST MY OPINION......G

One who is content with what they have. It is a relative term so someone who has 3 million may consider themselves poor in light of a Bill Gates. You are only rich when you become content with what you have.

Quite a bit of philosophical BS on this thread.

Depending on your locale, a net worth (assets - liabilities for the non-accountants) of at least $3 million. You could buy munis and, except for the AMT, bring in roughly $150,000 a year before you get out of bed in the morning. No risk, no worry.

Superstar,

You forgot ... "along with his girlfriend."

So your sentence should read ...

a rich man is one who can afford what his wife spends along with his girlfriend."

Seriously...a "rich man" would be someone that can easily afford to dine out every night.(fine dining not B.K.)

A "very rich" man can afford to dine out every night with 2 beautiful woman.

A "filthy rich" man NEVER dines with any 2 woman twice.
