The Detroit Pistons have offered Antonio McDyess a four-year, $23 million contract, a source told The Associated Press on Sunday.
He played 42 games last season 24 in Phoenix and 18 with New York and averaged 6.9 points and 6.1 rebounds.

What are they going to do with him? Pistons are aiming to be the first team in modern history to average allowing under 70 points I guess. And does this mean Sheed is not expected back?

WB - I believe they want him to fill Okur's shoes. Rasheed remains their (Pistons) #1 priority. "Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars traveled to Philadelphia almost a week ago to speak at Wallace's camp, and to talk to him about returning to Detroit". AP News.

I think Joe Dumars is one of the best execs in the league, but I really don't understand this particular move. Tying up 23 million on a player with McDyess' injury history is quite the risk. Makes me think they're not feeling too confident about signing Rasheed Wallace. They did lose Okur, but don't they ever plan to dust off 2003 #1 pick Darko Milicic? He got only token garbage time minutes this past season.

Okur, the guy that played about 15 minutes a game? I don't get that move and my first thought was exactly the same, when are they going to get something out of Darko.
