I think Pudge has played his way back into serious Hall Of Fame consideration....

Anyone else think he's going to get in?

I don't think there was ever any doubt as long as he played long enough. Do you think Fisk was ever a better player any given season? He got his HOF ticket partially by just playing forever. Pudge II can play his way in through less years and just superior two-way talents.

THis is a no brainer. Of course he is a HOF'er.

Top 10 hitting catchers of all-time and most gold gloves.

EZ Choice. 1st ballot.

Would have been if he retired after his career in TX. Is a lock 1st ballot after last year. What has he won 8-9 gold gloves, started 8 or so all star games.

I am not sure Pudge was a first ballot HOF'er , had he not rejuvinated his career...the MVP and WS sealed his first ballot invite IMO....

Just the fact that he is a catcher makes his offensive numbers look a lot better. Another or even better question is Jeff Bagwell, will he get in?

hey Rob, if I asked this question before last season you may have not said the same thing.....LONGEVITY is huge when we're talking about HOF criteria...Pudge was on the brink of fading away before the Florida season....many other players, Mattingly, Dale Murphy, Jim Rice...all were just as or even more dominant but had careers that fizzled out somewhat prematurely for Hall status... YOU DO NOT MAKE THE HALL WITH A CAREER THAT'S OVER AT 30, I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU DID THE FIRST 9 YEARS...

Alright journey, that makes sense now. you are right. what a difference a season makes. I take back what I said. if you just look at pudge up to the 02 season he probably doesnt stand a chance, but in 03 he had such a brilliant year with the bat and on defense we tend to forget about anything else.

He's an amazing player...I'm glad he got his career going again...He started so young we forget his age...although as a catcher (if history has anything to do with it) his career is almost over...Hopefully he will be the exception...most catchers are done by 33

Think about it this way, if PUDGE were to play 6 more years and hit a mere .250 in that span, get a mere 100 hits average per year in those 6 years, and win NO gold gloves.............he would be a DEFINITE HALL OF FAMER and probably first ballot.

Chances someday PUDGE will be in the HOF......

All the clutch hits he made in last years playoff outburst, he was the one guy I was scared about seeing at the plate each time. I knew he can do some damage, but not as much as bringing home a World Series Title.

He's been our favorite player in MLB since the retirement of Don Mattingly, Yount and Brett.

Since I was raised on Tex Rangers (1972-1997) I was horrified when they did not resign him.

But he's shed no tears apparently.

It wouldn't hurt him to complete this season and a couple more to utterly lock down his HOF. Since he could well play another FIVE beyond that if he were cool to playing 3B, 1B or DH, it seems fair to say Yes, he is a lock.
