Several emails have already been exchanged between watchdog operators. As of now, TheRx, SBR, Gambling 911, & TOW will definitely be present to discuss how we can better serve gamblers who are looking for safety when they bet offshore. MW is a maybe, and nobody else has contacted me that they will be attending this meeting at this point in time...

As a responsible gambling venue would do, I would like to ask our posters what areas should be covered in particular when the various watchdogs meet in August...

Any and all feedback is wlecomed...

Thanks

1. Assisting books with database of cheats and undesireable players.

2. Reliable money transfer system.

3. Legitimize the rating system- that are updated with news and problems, and that they shouldn't be dependent on advertising fees or referral fees

EXCELLENT FEEDBACK thus far...

I have thought about having a panel rating sports books, but one must excluse themselves if a sports book is advertising on a site they are affiliated with...

Also, adding a poster or two to this panel is a must imho...

While none of these offshore books are subject to US BAnkruptcy laws, one addition would be to utilize, to to a limited extent, the concept of preferential payees.

Under this concept, indivuduals and/or companies that received payment for services, such as advertising, player referal fees, etc, are required to refund these monies to the courts for the payment of creditors.

Under the little world in whichwe operate, perhaps the books could utilize those funds that they received from the failed book over the past ninety days to pay individuals who are registered members of that site or a pro-rata basis. The consortium of forums could further provide that should one forum have a surplus of these preferential player funds, it would utlize these to augment any other firum within the group that had a deficit (in that unlikely scenario).

Just my thoughts.

assassin, that's a tremendous suggestion.

Buzz, what do you mean by "database of undesirable players". That sounds a little scary. I hope, by "undesirable players", you don't mean winners.

Any "Watchdog" meeting with any so called watchdog sites that have agenda's or favor books that A) pay for there site B) Have huge affiliate deals with books C) turn down affiliate deals and there fore are rated lower because of this is a complete joke. IMO the player has to be his/her own watchdog because the only thing any of these so called "watchdog" sites care about is lining there own pockets. Show me one site that does not earn off there dealing's with these books and I'll show you someone who is LYING. The only thing that this meeting will do is it will be a way for all the so called watchdogs to figure out how they can blackmail books into increasing there affiliate programs.

"undesirable players", sounds like winners to me.

You can say it is like the fox guarding the henhouse all day long. Even if there is a slight conflict of interest, I sure would like to be there. Or have a player from the forum there. When this starts getting tightened up let me know...Best wishes...OF

When I hear the term 'undesireable player', I think of:
- Players that chargeback on their card after losing
- Players that use bogus names to get a bonus they are not entitled to
- Players that intentionally circumvent limits
- Players that pull back WU's after sending in the control number and losing the bet the shop was most gracious to allow prior to actually receiving the cash

Shrink,

i'm really confused here. I have been reading the RX for about 1 1/2 yrs. I have seen you repeatedly deny that THE PRESCRIPTION IS A WATCHDOG SITE. Now, you want us all to believe you are a WATCHDOG SITE that is looking out for the players?????? AND, that you are going to get together other "watchdog sites" to go along with this plan?????

My dear Shrink, could you please explain your postion once again so that I won't get this one confused with the others.

Thank You,

I, Robot (opening in wide release soon!)

SBR will press for an alliance of the willing to not promote books they know are in trouble, slow paying or outright scams.

To me, this is the cornerstone of any player advocate alliance. There is no credibility or future in this category for any site that knowingly sends players to slaughter.

No site will ever be perfect but we can and should set some bare minimum standards.

I didn't mean winners. I mean the players that abuse or have abused the everyday rules and ways that most of have to use to play at books.

I think these few people have abused credit, credit cards, western union, bonuses and the like.

All they have done has made it impossible for most of us to transfer money in a sane way, increase our costs to gamble and basically get any rhythm from a book without the book thinking they are getting ripped off.

We are so quick to tell of a books problems maybe we can be as quick to alert them of a potential scammer situation.

If the offshore industry is to survive and flourish then something like this is going to have to happen. I understand the arguement about 'the fox guarding the henhouse' and that arguement has some merits. But what people must understand is that the only way these sites can exist, barring Bill Gates setting up and running one for gratis, is to accept advertising dollars from the books. Is this a conflict of interest? Yes. Is there a rational and workable way around it? No. What has to happen and what must happen is for the site operators to put aside their differences and try to share info.... and I do mean share. In the future there has to more due diligence when signing up a book to advertise. Without this then's there is no hope for these sites to ever make a difference...it's that simple. I know this might sound like to 'simple of a solution' but in all actuallity this is what it boils down to. Everytime a site accepts adverting revenue and doesn't take the time to check out the advertiser it's potentially harming to the industry. The bottom line is that we, as posters, can scream, rant and rave all we want but the only ones that can help clean up the industry are these site operators. We know the books won't police themselves... hell, half the time the dying book owes other bookies money. Why on earth would they want to spread the word a book is closing?

Bottom line is I hope this 'summit' comes off and these sites work together in the future... it would benefit us all.

Ken,

If the logistics are workable I would be more than happy to participate as a poster and possibly to add some local flavor.
