Just trying to gather some information on a few of the heaviest MLB players that played after 1960 that are not pitchers. Kruk, Puckett, & F. Thomas would be an example. Can anyone think of other successful heavy hitters??

There's always next year, like in 75, 90-93, 99 &

Ah yes, who could forget Boog Powell.

I see Pickering is now listed at 265 lbs. hitting .332 and leading AAA with 28 HR's.
Not too shabby.

JD I had thought of both Horton and Gates Brown....I went back and noticed neither were that large...when i was a kid they seemed huge...I think Horton was like 200 lbs, Gates was like 5-11 220...

Greg Luzinski got rather tubby in his White Sox years...

Big Daddy Rick Rueschel, 6-3 240ish...

Sid Fernandez was near 300 lbs I think...he went on a diet and lost his fastball and was done...

I think JD was going on estimates...Downing wasn't that tall, had large arms and really wasn't as big as he seemed at the time...He and Lance parrish were two of the original weightlifters...It turned Downing into a solid player for 5-6 good years...Even shifting to left field after catching..79 Angels
