I have seen the incident on tape, normally it would be no different than any other bats on the field incident, but a bat nearly clipped umpires Bill Hohn and Mark Carlson. Had the bats simply fell in front of the dugout the suspension may have been shorter. The league is making a statement to protect umpires from excessive abuse.
