Sheffield grounded into a double play with no outs but a run scored, does Shef get credited with a RBI??? I always thought they would give the batter a RBI in this case?

Hit and run??? They were on first and third on when he was up with no one out. Regardless of whether it was a hit and run under normal circumstances if a player grounds out and a run scores unless there's an error they give the batter a RBI, is there a different rule for grounding into a double play?

Shrink,
You said a batter doesn't get credit for a rbi when He bounces into a double play in most cases ?
In what case would He get credit for a rbi ? I was not aware of any circumstance ?

kermit,

say bases loaded and guy grounds to short..

The shortstop can only get one out at second..

The runner scores..

Hypothetically, let's just say that the runner on second also tries to score but gets thrown out at the plate...

Batter would get credited for an RBI in this instance...

Good point Shrink but in the situation you described, the batter would not be charged with GIDP
