I just sold 2 Kenny Chesney tickets online and made over 100% return while holding them for around 3 months. So that got me to thinking that I should be doing this in a lot more volume. So I plan to start buying 8 tickets right when tickets go on sale at ticketmaster to all the big concerts that get sold out. Any laws or anything? Like not being able to sell them in certain states or to certain people from certain states? Thanks

I know certain states put restrictions on selling sports tickets being sold on ebay.

I know states like Illinois put a cap on the tickets (4-10x). When it hits that amount, the auction ends.

If you have access to really good seats (first 10 rows), you could make some money i guess. The last few concerts I bought on there, most I paid was $10 over face. Good luck.

matt24-

each state has laws regarding ticket sales and ebay uses your registration to limit prices paid for tix.

it's a good place to buy/sell tickets. for example someone got a gift when i sold two extra tix to a yanks/sox game at the last minute for just a bit above face because i was jammed and it was easier to mail them from my office than to make phone calls to find a few friends who were not already going to the game with me.

Johnny- when you say got crushed, I assume you mean he lost a lot of money. Do you know if he went overboard by that I meaning just starting out and buying up lots of tickets before he was able to turn any profit. My plan is only to do it on the shows that sale out, and only if I can get the tickets in the first 2 minutes that they are on Ticketmaster(therefore, probably having premium seats) I have been checking pricces a lot the last few days on Ebay and most are going way over face- if they are solid seats.

Best time for auctions to end is 7:00-10:30 on Sunday-Tuesday to maximize profits. It is easy to get crushed on tickets. You must have high-demand tickets, preferred seating, etc.

Also better if you have very low starting bids (with a reserve of face value). It makes the bidder think they can get the tickets cheap.

the guy bought Madonna tix in every city on her tour when it was announced. He also got special pricing/discount on the purchase. Then after all 30 shows or show were sold out she announced 2 or 3 more shows in each city. It crushed the value of the early purchase tix.

I'm planning on doing this pretty small, I'm just going to buy 8 tickets this saturday to the Tim McGraw concert in Pa. I will only buy if I get great seats on the floor or right at the side of the stage in the first few rows. I wish I would have bought up Kenny Chesney tickets everywhere, his are going insane on ebay. Lawn seats at my local concert venue are going more than double.
