Am I off base here in thinking this may have something to do with his current health situation?

Taking steriods can lead to many health problems that many of us are not even aware of yet IMO.

Thats why it is not wise to take steroids.

Probably, he lost a ton of weight and the chronic kinds of problems he's having could be assoiciated to his use. But he did get that fat contract before he went off the sauce. Scary.

Intestinal parasites may have Jason Giambi headed to the disabled list again, reports the New York Times.

The Yankees slugger missed his 12th start on Saturday against the Red Sox and may miss starting Sunday night because of a condition that has left him drained -- and which doctors have had difficulty pinning down.

The Times reported in its Sunday edition that Giambi has been put through a battery of tests, and should find out the results this week. The first baseman has learned one important fact from doctors: His strength might be sapped for months.

"I think what we're going to do is basically wait for the results of the tests," manager Joe Torre told the newspaper. "We have 20 percent of the tests due back [this coming] week. We'll see what they say."

Currently, Giambi is on an 0-for-19 streak at the plate.

One test result that came back negative was for cancer. Also, Giambi told The Record (Hackensack, N.J.) that his test for H.I.V. was negative.

Giambi was taken out of Friday's game at Boston after weariness got the better of him, and the Times reported that Torre and Giambi agreed the five-time All-Star should sit out for the second Red Sox game.

"We were both here early," Torre told the paper. "I saw him last night at the hotel, and he looked washed out. And today he just doesn't feel a whole lot in the tank."

Filling in at first for Giambi has been Tony Clark.

This like those peoples who read the bible and when they dont have the answer they are saying "the Lord works in mysterious ways."

The "Yankee organization" said that Giambi and his wife contracted the parasites during the openers in Japan.

The weight loss thing and the sucking ass I fully believe are juice withdrawl related, but I don't know about the rest - just passing it along, not standing by it.

Twenty years from now we will all know much more of the longterm negative health effects of abusive steroid usage.

Yes Lyle Alzado and many Professional Wrestlers also! Giambi's illness is due to his steroid use and needs a reason to cover his weight loss thats coming!! Just like ANY DRUG using for a lenghty period of time and then stopping cold turkey will give you the shakes among other symptoms!

there is a slim chance that he is sick due to the roids but I personally think he is sick because he has tried to take something else to makeup for the steroids he cant take anymore.

Giambi should have known not to drink the water in New York. Look what it did to A-Rod the other day...gave him diarrhea of the mouth. Maybe a little colon cleanser will help clear it up.
