This is a report against an abusive Manager at an offshore sportsbook in the Caribbean. Two men hold the supervisory posts at this company and they come from Canada respectively to work a two month shift as office Managers. Since this is not an attack against the company, I will call these men RI and RU.

8 months after being employed at this sportsbook in the Caribbean as a data entry clerk (betwriter) RI promoted me to assistant to the supervisors.

As an assistant to the supervisors, I worked 12 to 14 hour shifts six days a week; my duty was to aid with the monitoring, training, consultation, and other administrative duties for an office of 15 employees.

I was given my assignments by RI about 3 months ago, who is very respectable and professional. My problems began when RU came down to Belize to work his two month shift. RU is very unprofessional, lazy, impulsive, obstinate, lackadaisical, unapproachable, unprepared, short tempered and treats me and other employees with disrespect and condescension. He verbally abuses us with obscenities and racist attacks, which is an infringement of our rights as employees - He once called us monkeys and asked a fellow employee if she preferred being out in the cotton fields; RU was often extremely obscene and offensive to me as a female, RU would come to the office for about 3 hours and lie down in a couch watching TV, while RI would stay at his desk and get his work done.

When I stood up and told RU that I will no longer tolerate his abuse and obscene remarks he FIRED me!!! This is already in the hands of the police and my lawyers but I want others to know that justice is alive!!!

I would first contact the General with all details and names named. He could then use his contacts to talk to someone higher up in the organization who may reprimand this rogue boss. It's possible this guy could get fired and you could get your job back with an apology and maybe some compensation. The threat of negative publicity can be a very powerful weapon -- probably more powerful than anything the corrupt government puppets could do.

If that is unsuccessful, the book could then be named and at least that would give you some revenge.

I am very saddened to hear of your plight...

I doubt that she will name the sports book because it appears to me that Justice may be using this thread as leverage in her case...

I would advise you to inform your attorney about posting here and seek their opinion...

Judge, you forget that these shops are run by americans. These ads are put on the paper by locals that don't know crap about the law. I assure you, if an american had seen that, it would've never been approved... so you may get lucky...

SZ,maybe.Very subjective though as to what a Gringo talks like.Maybe they want a Brooklyn accent.BTW,I think the hiring practices of some books down here suck.

Sorry to here of this abusive situation. In my opinion you should contact RI or some higher ups in the company and let them know of the situation. I'm sure that once this all cleared up and if what you are saying is true (stress and repetition sometimes leads to a short fused temper.)they, the company will displine or get rid this verbally abusive boss. Again if you are in the right, you should have no problem getting your job back and an apology. Compensation maybe. thats a tuff one.

Hello forum members and readers,

Please understand that I have come here today to make the best out of this situation. After speaking with RU and staff members I have come to the conclussion that Justice was more upset with certain aspects of how she was spoken to after she made a mistake or didn't meet certain standards that RU had in place.

Management is a tuff job when you are far from home and have to deal with problems arrising in a 3rd world Country that leave you frustrated and without answers on a daily basis.

I have known RU for some time and know that he is not a racist person. However his hot temper sometimes gets him in trouble when dealing with some job related situations. Screaming and swearing might have taken place when talking and explaining would have been a better problem solver.

On many occassions simple instructions were given to employees only to go in one ear and out the other.
We were left with a helpless feeling when dealing with certain individuals but always gave employees many chances when it came to errors that cost us big money.

RU had his job outline and followed it to the best of his ability. He is always on top of his staff and enjoys his job. In my eyes he is prepared and willing to do whatever it takes to do his job.

There will always be tense situations when dealing with people and our office is no different. I hope after talking with justice today we could put this behind us and move on. This has been a hard time for everyone and hopefully we can grow stonger from this problem.

This will be my final statement in this forum. I do not wish to continue this topic in an open forum.
