Three days after his release from Tampa Bay, Fred McGriff worked out Wednesday for the New York Yankees.
“It would be awesome,” said McGriff about the possibility of joining the Yankees. “You couldn’t ask for anything better.”

New York, the AL East Division leader, could be in the market for an extra first baseman depending on test results regarding ailing starter Jason Giambi.

He doesn't appear to have much left in the tank, but it would be nice to see him get those last 6 or so homers.
