Check the box scores, Brad Wilkerson played first and led off for the Expos yesterday.

Can anyone think when this has happened before?

What's even more interesting is Spooky, is that Hatteberg was originally brought up as a catcher. Outside of JKendall, you sure don't see many catchers leading off either.

I can think of one other catcher who I saw lead off in games: Craig Biggio

Was thinkng the same thing....very rare to see a catcher lead off as well, and Kendall is doing it....

Biggio is in center now, but did lead off as a catcher i believe....

Carew led off the 1978 Allstar game with a triple, followed that with another triple in the third inning...ultimate bat control...

Always loved the way Carew held the bat. It was just sort of a 'loose' grip for lack of a better way to describe it. Very unique.

As for leadoff catchers, did either Tony Pena or Manny Sanguillen ever leadoff? Wouldn't have been a regular thing but may have happened during their careers.

when making a list of the all-time biggest dickheads on the planet - the name Rod Carew ranks right up there near the top

ask those who have dealt with this asshole and they will tell you this w/o hesitation. the few encounters i had with him were ones i regretted.

when his daughter got sick - notice how fast he changed from being a dickhead to a nice guy! if it was rod who had that disease and needed the blood transfusion - NO ONE would have helped him out - they would have watched this prick die as payback for the way he treated most of us when he played

Rod Carew can suck my balls until they are limp and dry!

I have been around Carew a few times way back in the day...He was no picnic, I was talking about Carew with Fish this AM and what a rude prick he was lol, funny this comes up tonight!...although he could still probably bat .280 today

FTR- Carew was lifetime .328

I believe Darren Erstad used to lead off every now and then last few years when he played first.
