The Doctor was the guy who made watching the NBA on CBS 'cool'

Back in the late 70's, the sunday Game of the Week, it was Julius Erving everyone wanted to see...would he get a breakaway dunk? And if he did what would he do with it ?

He made it look so effortless...perhaps the most graceful athlete of alltime.

Rob F,

Sad day when Reggie died.

I'm an older Celtics fan so growing up, my hero was none other than Hondo - John Havlicek. I remember one playoff game when he had a separated shoulder and he could only use his non-shooting hand and still was the leading scorer in a victory against the arch-rival Knicks. Went for 21 points and coudln't even raise his shooting arm over his shoulder.

ML Carr was one of my all-time favorite Celts. Not a great talent but on the court he was probably smarter than most anyone out there.

Supposedly after a playoff game against the Hawks, "Tree" Rollins complained to the police that ML threatened him with a razor in the tunnel. One Celts sportswriter said he had no razor but was just trying to get inside Rollins' head. Them was the days.
