I bet on Greg Biffle against Jeremy Mayfeild in Qualifying tommorow, but Biffle crashed his car in practice today and since he has to use his backup car he has to start in back of the field. So my question is have i already lost my wager or will he still run qualifying even though he starts in the back? I am going to send pinny an email, but thought i would ask here first.

To be honest no idea, but I will bump the thread for one of the NASCAR posters.

Thanks Wilheim. I guess pinny doesn't know the answer either because they just sent me back an email saying that it would take some further research to find out. I was kind of hoping they would just refund my bet. I think it will suck if I lose my wager because the guy crashes his car in practice and does not even get to qualify. Where's The General when you need him?

Thanks Just4fun, so even though he starts in the back of the pack he will still run in qualifying? I have bet on qualifying matchups before but my driver has never wrecked his car in practice, but thats just the way my lucks been going this week. thanks again

he only starts in the back if he qualified and then wrecked his car in happy hour or changes a engine or for some other penalty what ever happens in the first practice has no bearing on qualifying at all

I just lost a lot of respect for pinny, but what can you do

Dear Pinnacle Sports client,

Please be informed that the wager will be graded as a loss since Gregg Biffle is running with the backup car, and consequently he's placed in the back of the field for the race.

Even if Gregg Biffle gets a better position on the qualifying race, the wager will be graded as a loss.

If you have any questions, please email our 24 hour Customer Service Department at csd@pinnaclesports.com.

...So the guy goes out there tonight and crashes his car in practice and i lose my bet. Keep in mind that qualifying is tommorow morning at 11:00. I have lost my fair share of wagers but never have I lost one where the event hasn't even taken place yet. wow

Thanks for you help Just4fun, I just sent them an email saying i did not agree with them and that we needed to compromise and if he runs in qualifying that whoever gets that fastest time should win even though he starts in the back no matter what. I'll let you know what they say.

Blaze, I know very little about NASCAR, I do know that Pinnacle tries their best to do the right thing. I hope their linesman responds with an explanation that is fair to everyone. Please remember it is after 1AM Eastern and many posters are off-line at this hour. I know General would try to help but he has retired for the night a couple of hours ago. He should see this thread in the morning and respond if the issue has not been settled.

Best of luck, wil.

after looking high and low I found nomention of any type of rule where it says he will have to go to the rear of the fiels and in a Nascar.com com article there was no mention of him going to the back, did they also have a matchup with E. Sadler because he crashed also,on a side note Oly has a qualifying matcup with Sadler still on the board and IMOP there auto racing odds maker is as sharp as they come maybe drop him a line and see what he says

I don't see it in the article you posted but its in the one titled "Leffler tops in opening Brickyard practice" on Nascar.com. Also that was another Saddler that wrecked not Elliot. And I would like to know how Olympic is grading it. And thanks again for your help.

This was the quote from there

Though Biffle hasn't yet qualified, he'll still start at the rear because he'll change engines.

"If we used that engine, we'd be OK but the driveshaft shoved into the back of the transmission and it broke the tail housing and stuff, so it could hurt the flywheel or the crankshaft. So instead of taking any chances, we'll just put a spare engine in it and start from the back."

yes you are correct it was Hermie Sadler my mistake it's a little late and yes if they do change engines then he will start from the back when they do crash during practice usually they will keep the same engine but since they are changing it he will go back tough break

i think pinnacle is wrong here. the only thing used for qual matchups is the qual time, not starting position.
here are their rules from their website.
i don't think its going to matter anyways as
mayfield was much faster in practice than biffle and will likely beat him in qual today.

NASCAR Qualifiers:

For qualifying matchups, only the times posted during the qualifying session are used.

If a driver starts a lap but does not post a time, the driver is deemed to finish last, losing to all drivers who post a time. If more than one driver starts a lap but does not post a time, all such drivers are tied.

If a driver does not cross the start line, all wagers that specify that driver are considered "no action".

Disqualifications that occur more than 30 minutes after the qualifying session has ended are not recognized for wagering purposes.

If the two drivers in a wagering matchup post the same time to the nearest thousandth of a second, the matchup will be graded as No Action and all monies refunded. In this situation, the starting positions assigned by NASCAR are not relevant for wagering purposes.

Wagering lines on qualifying matchups will be considered closed at the start of the first practice. Any wagers made after the start of the first practice session will be graded as No Action and all monies refunded

Thank you Red007, i think pinnacle is wrong here to, and your right it probably won't matter because Mayfield did run a fast lap, but Biffle only made 1 lap and then crashed his car on the second,( by the way how do you crash your car in practice, isn't that what your out there practicing for.) Anyway we will see in about an hour or so. I just want to atleast have a chance to win my wager.

Interesting. I think times shoud be used no matter whether Biffle has to go to back of field or not.
