Any one know the nuts and bolts of discussion groups such as the ones i can do a search of with google? Those sci. misch. alt. etc. I am as any website/organization etc.

Thanks.

JackDee,

alt.* - alternative
sci.* - science
rec.* - recreational
comp.* - computers

There are many more, but these I believe are the most popular.

You might want to use a program called Forte Agent (www.forteinc.com) . Great program that handles the usenet newsgroups, much better than Outlook or Outlook Express.

Hope this helps.

Forte Agent is really easy to use. If you are looking to save files however from the newsgroups, making sure you enable the file saving attachment under properties for the newsgroup you are subscribed to.

Always, always, always, use an up-to-date virus scanner. The usenet newsgroups are full of viruses, so be careful.

If it's files you are looking for, it can be found on the newsgroups, but generally speaking, it can also be found on the web as well as using programs such as eDonkey, eMule, Warez, Shareaza, iMesh Light, etc. Just be careful of the spyware and use a spyware cleaner (Pest Patrol, Ad-Aware, etc.).

GL!
