I never thought I would say this, but A-ROD has been a good guy to have in the dugout. Also, with Soriano gone, the Yankee infield is much improved defensively. BTW, defense counts, ask the Red Sox.

I see that Soriano has been moved to leadoff with the Rangers. Too many strikeouts in key RBI situations while batting down in the lineup.

The key piece of information needed in the analysis is that Boone got hurt.

Prior to the start of the season I would have taken Boone plus Soriano over ARod plus Cairo/Wilson.

Once you consider that Boone got hurt, any analysis/comparisons between Soriano and ARod are moot since the deal was a no brainer for both clubs. This was a classic "win-win" for the Rangers and Yanks with the only loser being Boston who didn't go the "extra mile for their fans."

A-Rod .965% , total chances 282

Soriano .969% , total chances 545

Soriano handles many more chances playing 2B...

Surprising thing to me is Arod has twice the amount of stolen bases. Has Soriano been hurt? He was good for 40 steals a year.

That surprised me too Mudbone...especially with Alex playing in NY stealing 30 bases seems almost counter productive...meaning no reason risking a hand injury on a team with the offense the Yankees have...it is impressive though.

2004 33,159

Looks like another wash, even though I'm sure Texas attendance is up mainly because of the team not Alphonso...kinda funny though

Holy Shiite! The Sox have higher ticket prices, almost double the Yankees. did not know that.

Anyways, I don't know what Soriano's salary is but I'm guessing approx, $5 million while A-Rod's is about $25 million (I recoognize it's a little more complicated than that).

Anyways, if I can get roughly 90 percent of the production from Soriano at 20 percent of the price for a team that has to watch the budget, a good deal for Texas, IMO. Frees up money to spend on other players.

And does not diminish how great A-Rod is.

You guys have no idea how crazy it is for the Yanks to draw 50k in NY. There is so many more things to do here and part of the popluation roots for the Mets. An average of 50k for a baseball game in a city like NY when it is a forgone conclusion that the regular season no longer matters is AMAZING.
