Boy this trade is blowing up in their faces!
Up 5-3 in 8th, they never get to Gagne as Dreifort gives up 3 for the L. Penny's arm is a hurting and LoDuca is tearing it up in Miami.
So far, the Dodger blue have to be shaking their heads at this one.
I still say the Padres catch them and win the division, wild card at worst, and then shock everyone and go to the WS.

That sucked...Mota was solid...and isn't that the second time Dreifort sh*t the bed since the trade?

I dunno about the Padres winning the division though....

GL, maybe run into you in Vegas this weekend...I'll be in until the red-eye Tuesday night, can't wait

One of the worst trade in awhile. Here is why the dodgers were lacking in hitting!! They were very solid in the bullpen. They give away the bridge to gagne for what. Brad Penny!!! Loduca was very solid... I had the dodgers today.. Between the dodgers and astros and white sox,,, these 3 teams have cost me $$$$

I agree the trade looks bad, but since the trade the Dodgers have done well and Marlins have not. Probally will catch up eventually. I think this is the second time Mota replacement Dreifort has screwed up.

Marlins simply don't have the pitching depth this year. Burnett is not all the way back, Beckett is still injury-prone, and they have no 5th starter. Plus, the bullpen outside of Benitez is horrible. Injuries to Fox and Spooneybarger depleted the pen.

The losing of Ivan and Derrick were huge besides the injury problems

Before the Dodgers made the trades, they were probably a better regular season team. After they made the trade, they became a better postseason team with the addition of Penny.

yeah right is they keep putting in dreifort they are done... Still they don't have the offense to put up runs against a dominat pitcher. They teams I really hate this year are the damn White Sox, Astros and Phillies... They need to fire Bowa!!!

IN Spades: How in the world can you say that? An awesome guy that can go two innings in relief is HUGE in the playoffs. Plus losing Dave Roberts will be missed in playoffs that nobody talks about when the need to manufacture runs is so very important.

Gagne can go two innings plus in the playoffs...I'd much rather have a top-notch starter (Penny) for the playoffs instead of a high-quality set-up man. Dreifort has two months to get it together, if he can't do it the Dodgers have enough pitching depth to get someone to do the job. They have also loaded up on left-handed bats, which will come in handy in the playoffs against Atlanta (one lefty starter), Chicago (0 lefty starters) and St. Louis (0 lefty starters).

Exactly. Also, Finley is better than Roberts. In addition, Choi/Werth is way better than Encarnicion everyday. They do lose offense at catcher, but it could be argued that the gain at the other positions makes up for it.
