With all due respect, I don't consider Sosa a Sham. He is however; a future Hall of Fame member. Granted he is currently struggling and may continue to do so. There are plenty HOF'ers in Cooperstown, that had an off year. Dusty should spend more time with him in the cage (moving him closer to the plate) and the thought of dropping him down would likely go away.

Maybe Sammy's off year has something to do with the fact that he doesn't dare use corked bats any more. I lost all respect for Shamy Soza when that was revealed.

He still has no real discipline as to the strike zone. he chases way too many balls that are no where near the strike zone, and it seems like every time he is up in a real big spot the pitcher just throws way out of the zone and Sammy goes fishing.

Steroids. Look up pictures of him from the White Sox days, and look at pictures of him now. Not just muscle mass, bone mass. That simply doesn't magically happen.

GD-What's up? I'll be in Vegas in 4 weeks! No doubt Sosa roided big time. If you go on the DL for weeks from a sneeze, then your body is messed up. Not like it isn't obvious anyway.

That reminds me, I recently saw a clip of Barry Bonds hitting a home run in the 1992 NLCS against Atlanta, I swear his body was about the same proportion as Kenny Lofton.

Unreal the way his physique has changed.

without the steroids and corked bat, he would have been dave kingman with speed.

Congrats to Sammy on HR #600:

a future Hall of Fame member

BIG MAC 583 HR's turned away by HOF.

Sammy's comeback is seeming to make me root for the guy a bit.
ONLY 5 guys with 600 HR's (MAYS, RUTH, AARON, Barry) pretty impressive to be included in this club.

PROPS.

Good example of how people treat a guy that, for the most part - people like. The guy is a known cheat (corked bat, his roid rage freak out on the SI reporter, his "no habla" routine in front of the hearings).

Yet, generally people like Sammy. He's good in the community, usually very approachable by fans and media and does a lot of charity work back home.

Barry could use PR lessons from this guy.

WAS trying to find if there was a Hall of Fame related thread to SAMMY, (none that I could specifically find). There will be some debate at such a time as there is with MAC. Ultimately I think the comeback helps him and in TIME he gets the NOD in. All players had played with these set of conditions and his numbers speak for themself.

Way to pick up a three year old thread

Sosa has a better chance of making the HOF over McGuire but it will be tough for either of them with scandal swirling over their heads. Cheating in the form of steroids, corked bats or whatever is not tolerated too well.

I'm sure they haven't forgotten how he slung out after the first inning in the last Cub game of the year. The guy's a douchebag...
