Please take some time to test the search feature. Toy with it a bit and supply me feedback here.

Thanks

General,

The "search" feature appears to be working fine as I put in a search word, "The General" and came up with only posts that had "bonehead" and knucklehead" amongst them...

I hate it.What criteria is used to judge relavence?Until I get an answer...I will continue to hate it.Chronological order as a default works best for me.

I dislike the new search feature as well

the old one seemed to have a more logical layout that sorted messages by date first - whereras the new one sorts by topic.

I feel as though the ability to sort by topic may be useful from time to time - but I believe that when sorted by date it is easier to get a feel for the messages posted

a particular thread could go on for days upon days - but usually when you search for something - you at least have a rough idea of the date and time that it might have been posted

I believe that in sports discussion especially - this would be a much more useful function if it could revert to the way it was previously sorted (by date) because of the time sensitive nature of most discussions...

thanks for giving me the chance to give my input

for example - when i type seattle

I do not even see my posts in the baseball forum picking seattle to win tonight vs KC

Shouldnt that come up ?

I understand that I just did a general search and that if I had selected the advanced seach to only look in baseball picks I would be better off

BUT

it just seems like when I type seattle I should not have to scroll through pages of stuff that was posted days ago to find something on the site posted about seattle TODAY

right?

Jaypaw, if you use the advanced search with only the word Seattle, and use date where it says "order by" instead relevance, you would have come up with your posts at the top of the results.

Seattle search by date

I understand the problem. The quick search is using relevance as a default, perhaps we can get info-pop to change it to date, this would save posters the time required to use the advanced search.

All I can say about the new search tool is that it WORKS! unlike the other one! I did a search on my name and found every single post I've ever spewed here at the RX..

Nice job techs!
