Their BJ games are decent, their hotel is beautiful, with a pool, nice small book, new poker room(non-smoking), higher limits in the sportsbook. played in the high limit pit, pit bosses friendly, not rude towards the player, classy place.

i didn't stay at the nugget, but spent a lot of time there. my next trip i may just stay at the nugget.

I think they have done a good job, but the Nugget was always the class of downtown. Trying to compete with the big boys like Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, and Caesars is a big mistake. They will get their ass handed too them. They should be happy carving out their niche and stealing 70 year old ladies from the Four Queens.

GD- They are attracting much more than the 70 year old ladies from the Four Queens.

The place was jamming every single night for the week of the bash with a wide range of people.

i agree. what do you think you can expect in mailing offers with a range of $25-$250? also, are their comps easier than strip properties?
quote:
Originally posted by FISHHEAD:

Fish, that was a little tongue-in-cheek. I realize Tim/Tom are going for a different crowd than the typical downtown market.
I still feel they are not sure whether they are going for the hip, young Hard Rock/Palms crowd or for the big, high rolling Bellagio/Mandalay crowd. I'm sure they will find their niche in town, but even their fiction tome on Fox is evidence that they are still feeling things out and are not sure which direction to head in just yet.

Bigbet- Video Poker constituted 95% of my play at the Nugget and I am anticipating some complimentary room offers, special invitations, and possibly some cash back at the very least.

Not sure what table games will provide you, but would estimate at that range you are going to recieve some nice offers.

And GD..agree 100% with BB...place was packed every nite with classy people and some real nice talent if know what I mean.. met some guys there from chicago for bach party (group of 30)...a guy from Atlanta who used to stay on strip...think the TV show helped them alot..now all they gotta do is keep'em!!!

As bad as that TV show is it will put them on the map like "The Real World Vegas" did for the Palms. That show approached like 20 casinos and they all turned them down and as a direct result, the Palms became the hippest joint in town.
Certainly, the GN will reap rewards from the publicity and Tommy Boy will acheive cult-like status.

Cedar- The friendliness of their staff is going to play a big role in their success.

Every, and I mean EVERY, experience I had with an employee at the Nugget was first rate!!!...........as I am sure the majority of bash attendees will attest to.

Hats off to the Nugget......

Dante

You should try staying at Main Steet Station. Nice, very nice, rooms, easy parking, cheap prices (at least for those of us from the islands--it is free), great buffet. 97% of the occupants are from Hawaii.

The only downside is when the train blows by your window at 4 am---but what the hey, I am usually still up then anyway.

Dante,at The Horsehoe, is it true that the mattresses on the beds are so old that they sag badly in the middle? Maybe a lot of yellow stains? LT
