State Farm maybe although I think even they may have started. Any company not using credit is
WAY behind the times. Credit is the best rating variable out there.

State Farm does Not check on homeowners but for auto they do.

Bosox, I couldn't disagree more. Plenty of people screw up their credit when young (18-22ish) and then grow up. How does that indicate they are more likely to get into an accident?

They all do, also your profession, number of miles you drive per year, of course driving record, vehicle you drive, do you pay your policy on a monthly basis/pay in full (late payments hurt your rating class) as well as marital status all figure into the actuaries computations. Take a defensive driving course If your state offers it, also make sure you don't have any unnecessary coverage’s.

Insurance is about limiting risk; those with credit problems are more likely via statistical computation; as higher risk.

I agree it’s not fair grouping a person into a specific category, you can’t argue with the numbers.

You would be amazed in the actuararial department they can calculate the likely hood of when you will take a shit.

Actually my friend is an actuary for an Insurance company...They do run credit checks and it is true how much shit they actually can predict..There are some insurance agencies though that won't run credit..go check out companies in the hood...seriously..Not large corporations like Sate Auto and State Farm..go with the General Auto insurance...It's advertised here on tv all the time for people with bad credit
