One of the reasons I never listen to this guy. But I usually catch some of him before I switch the radio after the Tony Bruno show.
I caught his opening, and unfortunately am still listening to it now. Just to reaffirm why I think this guy gets way too much credit for being some icon in the broadcasting world.
Does anyone even listen to this guy? The show on ESPN is acceptable since ESPN sucks now and ANY programming they can air besides a tired Sportscenter and Poker (which seemingly airs 24/7) is welcomed.
I used to be subjected to this guy way back when, when I was working with a guy who thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. But I thought he was a hack. the only saving grace to the show was when people faxed or called in and made some jokes, but tthen unless you knew the insdie joke 50% of those were lost. But unfortunately since I had to listen to it for a year or so I was all too familiar with the inside jokes. And they were run into the ground. OJ Simpson amd the Menendez brothers should probably be getting royalty ckecks from this guy, along with Tanya Harding.
Has he ever had a topic that was relevant? Or not had to fall back on some years old angle to keep his show on the air?
Admittedly the Olympics is in the here and now, but gymnastics? Sure, there is the controversey, but is it a controversey if no one cares? I doubt very highly that the regular listeners give two shits about gymnastics. He must be looking to reach the fringe audience and let them in.
But at least I was not impressed with what I heard, and it only further cements my notions of this clown.
