I would like to welcome two of the more colorful posters we have here at TheRx, "Winkyduck" who will represent the people, the everyday players....and Johnny Demarco 'Legendary Tout, some would call "Smamdicapper", for a roundtable discussion on the pro's and con's of selling sports picks and information on which team to bet on....

Winky as many of you know has went to great lengths in the past to point out fraudulent scamdicappers...its a pleasure to have him here in this thread on this particular discussion....I would like to ask Winky not to comment on anyone's looks, toupee's, wives, sexual preferences
icon_eek.gif
or anything other than the subject at hand

And on the other side, its a pleasure once again to welcome back national tout Johnny Demarco....Johnny has made headlines over the years and we all have heard his name somewhere along the way....

Gentlemen its a pleasure to bring both of you here today, and over the next few days perhaps we can come to some understanding surrounding the always controversial selling of sports selections....

I would ask the audience to leave any and all questions you may have for both my honored guests....I'm sure we can get into a pretty interesting discussion here...For those that don't know Winkyduck he is the resident 'tout buster'...

lets have some fun , lets keep the gloves off and come out chatting

Looking forward to a big year. Football intrest seems to be up.

I would like to know how many services Winkyduck has signed up and paid for.

Sure, I have one. JD said he went 5-0 to start the preseason and is now 0-6 since that point. What will his recorded message report?

To answer your question honestly, I do not gamble on games myself. I gamble with advertising dollars that get people to call my toll free number-in other words why should I bet myself when the public bets for me? I do have money on the table though just in a different way.

I've been known to inflate score phone records that is no secret. 90% of the traffic that calls my 900 number is repeat business.

i really want to say one thing here before things start to go in 8-million directions

i do what i do because handicappers promise a ton of stuff - and don't deliver - something i know way ahead of time is probably going to happen.

when i call - all i am asking for what it is they are saying they will give for free. if i get that, i don't care how the picks do (it's not like i'm gonna bet them anyway) - all i care is that i got the picks and with little (or in the case of "Doc's" - ZERO) hassle.

in the case of Doc's - it was the ONLY service that i called and had them give me the pick ASAP - w/o even asking for my name/number. the whole call took MAYBE 90-seconds, if that. they were as professional as you can be in the industry. the free pick even won (Utah laying about 15 to Indiana - obviously in football). when i posted my call to Doc's i was VERY complimentary of them since they delivered what they promised. rest assured i am done calling them ever again for they were first class all the way.

anytime you wanna hook me up with anyone - go for it.

i don't think calling Johnny would be a great idea - for as many posts of mine as he has read here - i sense it wouldn't take long for him to recognize me on the other end of the phone and what i am trying to do. i like to "sneak" up on people and hit them with the element of surprise. if they know i am coming - that's no good for the way they will act on the phone will be 180-degrees opposite as if i come across as 99.99% of the people who usually call in,.

Obviously there are a few bad places to call. You have to know though-the whole reason for someone to give you a free selection is to get you to buy their services. It is kind of like walking into a car dealership to test drive a car with zero intention or even being in the market to buy a new car.
What services have you actually paid for?

every "big" game that goes on the 900 number is in Excel. Big Game -meaning the best play of the day.

In this business it is not what you did last year or even yesterday, it's what you have for today.

J.D. has the internet been good or bad for the industry (selling picks) ?

Seems its put the scorephones out of the loop now, how much have the scorephone lost (% of calls) in the last 5 years ?

10 years ago that scorephone was brilliant, not so sure its still used by many...

Are you still friends with that crew?
The Animal, Feiner, Price, Duffy? I always enjoyed The Animal's scorephone personality lol...

I know all those guys. Still good friends with Price.

Scorephone business is about 1/3 what it used to be. Toll free complimentary selection phones are decent.

The tout business went down with the arrival of the offshore business. A lot of the old tout money now goes offshore as postup money.

If that's the case, then why the need to 'inflate' one's records?
