NO way.

I know USA do not and cannot play well some reasons. but -4.5 is too little for them.

DreamTeam cannot go home like this.
They will beat Spain and if they do, then they will beat Spain more than 5 for sure.

I was expecting between -11 and -15.

I am putting all i have and thinking put some more.

Any opinion?

what do u think?

Spain is undefeated in olympic play with their best nba player being sam gasol(sp?). This line is only -4.5 because of the suckers who will bet the US> i think the true line is about US -2.5 to -3.5

The first Pinnacle line I saw was -4, so the early betting is on the USA. I haven't seen Spain play and don't pretend to know much about them except that they're led by Pao Gasol. I think he's their only NBA player. During the USA/Angola game, Doug Collins was looking ahead and commenting that Spain might actually be a favorable matchup for the US. He said that they're not a good 3-pt shooting team, which is how other teams have been hurting the US (along with the US' inability to make 3's). I won't be playing the game, but it should be enjoyable to watch.

I took Spain +4.5 and Spain straight up at +188. I agree the true line is about -2.5 and think there is value in Spain at +188 since there is a reasonable chance for Spain to win.

Spain's PG is Juan Carlos Navarro. He is built in the similar mold of the Puerto Rican PG who plays for the Jazz who gave the US their worst butt-whipping ever. Gasol is inside and Spain plays a very physical game.
No reason the US should be favored by 4.5 here, other than their rep. In this tournament, Spain has played by far the better basketball and has not lost yet.
Definitely better value on the Spanish side.

USA bettors have very deep pockets. Guess not many Spaniards have offshore accounts. I have been following Spain's 3 pt shooting, and it is not like Lithuanias. They are undefeated, but just are not dominant. I think Spain may cause Duncan real problems, and that is the US #1 option. If it gets physical, and it will, that will pose problems as one, Timmy will wear down or worse yet, get into foul trouble. Second, this US squad can't make any free throws. It is like an All Star game. Gasol has been a leader, but they are a disciplined International team. I am still capping this watching line rise. Could we see 6? Best Wishes...OF

the true line should be a pick'em, u have to be crazy to bet the usa -4.5, the only people who would be betting the u.s is for sentimental reasons and not for sharp gambling reasons. spain will probably win outright.

Against his better judgement Larry Brown might be forced to use a zone against Spain, mainly because of refs calling almost any contact. I doubt if Carmelo will see any action tomorrow. Look for Brown to use a short rotation, and take Gasol out of the game with a zone.

look for our team to get their asses kicked, i can't believe that anybody in their right mind wants to lay 4.5 points after what they have shown so far. so what they beat angola by 40+, it's angola for gods sakes. they say they got something positive out of the lithuania game, what exactly is it??? that they can lose a close game? that they can blow a lead in the 4th?

pathetic is all i can say

Wil,
I interpreted that article differently. It sounded to me like Brown was whining about the officiating because he was looking for an excuse, an out for these underachievers. Be a man Larry and blame your players not the refs. You're getting your ass kicked every time you step on the court.
Please, please don't lay the wood with US folks, lay off and root for them, but don't piss away hard-earned money.

I think that even if the USA was -10, that it would be a great value bet! They will win by around 25 points tomorrow AT LEAST!!!!
