wireless is real real cool.

get a wireless G card. Even though at todays speeds wireless B is fine. G is the future.

Does it effect speed?-not that you should notice unless you are doing some sort of a video conference.

works great, but if you have a panosonic 2.4 ghz wireless phone it can knock it out when you are on the phone.

Jman there is no set up...you plug your cable into the wireless device and as long as the laptop you have is already rigged for wireless there is no set up ..the Wireless Lan costs about 60$

A few bars here in Tampa are starting to provide free wireless internet service for your labtop.

No way will it affect your speed, unless you have a T1 line into your home. The 802.11b standard is just great running 11 Megabits per second which is way faster than ADSL/Cable.

You won't need the faster, more expensve, 802.11g unless you plan enormous file transfers locally with your desktop. I would not get the more expensive 802.11g. By the time speeds into your home have increased to make b obsolete your computer will also be obsolete.

I'm looking forward to taking mine RVing this winter as more sites are installing wireless.

I am all set-up for this but still have hesitation about security. I can go wireless with my PC's and PS2 now, but just cant get the safe feeling after a special i seen on NBC out of Indy where some reporters were driving around accessing other peoples connections and their PC's.

OK, I am looking for a laptop that I can access the net anywhere-driving, airport, vacation, etc. Getting tired of being tied down to the office so much!

I can see you concern , Your retractable roof on your trailer may cause you problems but you can always post from the porch of your trailer with no problems , IMO sir

I have zero experience at this. I have a LAN in my command center but it is hard wired for my own personal preference. If I wanted to, I could go wireless. What I am understanding here is there is a wireless connection. So for instance, I want to go fishing, I bring the laptop, jump in the boat and can use it without having any connection. Excuse my ignorance, but I am willing to learn. Where is more information about this? Thanks in advance...OF

if the lake you are going fishing in is your front yard then yes, you need to be within a certain distance of your wired connection for wireless to work, usually within 500 feet, of course with an extra antennae you can go farther but not much more than a mile or so...
